Dena Schmidt via NaturalHealth365 – Most people reach for a cup of coffee to increase their energy levels. However, in recent years, energy drinks have become the pick-me-up of choice, especially among younger people. But here’s the warning: Researchers have found that these high-caffeine, high-sugar beverages negatively impact heart health. In fact, within just 90 minutes of having one of these drinks, blood vessels can constrict dramatically – by as much as half in some cases. This reduces the blood supply and nutrients to the body’s organs and inhibits their function. How energy drinks put a squeeze on our blood circulation Keep in mind: blood flow constriction to the heart increases the risk of both heart attacks and stroke. And that’s exactly what happens when you drink these beverages. In addition, their high sugar content raises blood glucose levels – which can cause (or make worse) metabolic disorders like diabetes and prediabetes. In one study, the researchers examined 44 college students from the McGovern Medical School at UT Health. All participants were non-smokers, in their 20s, and generally ‘healthy.’ Since the subjects were young, they all had strong endothelium, the layer lining the inner walls of blood vessels. Endothelium integrity is crucial to heart health. Now, for the shocking results: the effect of energy drinks on otherwise normal endothelium was measured using ultrasound before and after consuming a 24-oz. energy drink. Ninety minutes after consuming the drink, endothelial function was tested for vessel diameter and arterial blood flow. How perfectly good blood vessels get damaged by just ONE drink After just 90 minutes, the artery’s inner diameter was reduced by half – from 5.1 percent to around 2.8 percent on average. The researchers believe this effect is due to the high levels of caffeine, sugar, taurine, and many other stimulating ingredients. As agitating as too much caffeine can be, the researchers believe it’s the high sugar content of these drinks that is the biggest culprit of severe blood vessel constriction. A drink like Red Bull contains 37 grams of sugar – equivalent to over NINE TEASPOONS. However, caffeine is also a factor, causing the body to release adrenaline rapidly. Each 250-ml drink contains around 80 mg of caffeine, which is 2.5 times the amount in a can of soda. Editor’s note: This article should be considered a ‘red alert’ for young athletes. Don’t combine your high-intensity training with these drinks. The result could be a deadly heart attack. The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health estimates that around one-third of teenagers aged 12 to 17 consume these high-caffeine sugary drinks regularly. Find natural alternatives to energy drinks Finding natural, low-sugar ways to boost energy is always better for long-term health. If you’re a parent of a teenager reaching for one of these beverages, warn them about the risk of heart attack, restrict their consumption, and encourage healthier options. For example, green tea, coconut water, and fresh vegetable-fruit juices have (natural) energizing properties, and they are much healthier than high-sugar, caffeine-infused options. Once you get started, you’ll never look back. Remember: good health is our greatest asset. We should do everything possible to protect it.

Diana Bletter via Israel21c – Israeli startup Lumen offers a handheld breath analysis device that allows users to “hack their metabolism,” as cofounder Michal Mor explains. “If you have information about how your metabolism is working, you can improve your own health,” Mor tells ISRAEL21c. Mor and her twin sister, Merav, didn’t set out to start a high-tech company. The sisters, who were born in California and moved to Israel at age two with their parents, originally wanted to be physicians. Instead, they studied medical laboratory sciences at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. They each received a master’s degree and a PhD in physiology — Merav specializing in heart arrhythmia and Michal in cardiac science. The sisters, each a mother of three children, live near each other in Tel Aviv. In their spare time, they are Ironman athletes, and Merav is a divemaster while Michal does competitive pole acrobatics. They first became curious about metabolism when they were training for an Ironman triathlon. The event is grueling. First, a 2.4-mile (3.86 km) swim, then a 112-mile (180.25 km) bicycle ride, followed by a marathon of 26.22 miles (42.20 km). The one-day event usually takes about 16 hours to complete. “Many competitors crash and don’t have the energy to finish,” Mor said. It became clear to them that “we had to be able to efficiently use fats and carbohydrates to be able to do the race.” Metabolic Flexibility The Mor sisters started searching for “metabolic flexibility,” a common term in the scientific community, “but nobody spoke about what exactly you can do to make it happen.” “We wanted to understand what was the best way to fuel our bodies,” Mor said. She and her sister became their own guinea pigs and began experimenting with nutritional methods — on themselves. “After a long swim in the sea in the morning, we’d eat meatballs and pasta,” Mor said. The method they devised for what they ate and when was so successful that they both finished the race with so much energy, they immediately registered for the next one. After that race, the sisters decided to investigate how to better measure their metabolism to get the information they needed. Tests in hospitals would have required “lying down for at least 45 minutes dressed like an astronaut and then you need a doctor to analyze the data an hour later,” is how Mor describes it. At first, they wanted only to find a home-based way to measure their own respiratory exchange ratio (RER), which indicates whether the body is getting its energy from fat or carbohydrates. A Family Business After four years of research and development, they created Lumen with three others: Avi Smila, who is chief information officer; Dror Ceder, chief growth officer; and Daniel Tal Mor, who is the CEO (and Michal’s husband). Michal Mor is head of science for products, a task in which she studies the “complicated metric of metabolic flexibility to make it accessible to everyone.” Merav Mor is the company’s chief scientist. In 2016, beta trials for the Lumen device began; Lumen was officially launched via an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign in 2018. The device and app can connect with programs like Google Fit as well as Bluetooth to integrate users’ data. In addition to giving people a window on their metabolic health, the Lumen app – available by subscription — offers ideas for meals, including alternative suggestions if people “don’t like what’s on the menu.” There are selections for vegetarians and vegans as well as for those with food allergies, helping people understand what makes up a balanced meal. Translating Bodies Today, the company has 115 employees with offices in Israel as well as New York. Its yearly sales figures are not disclosed. One of Lumen’s breakthrough research findings is tracking how women’s metabolism changes according to each phase of their menstrual cycle. “There is a lot of research about men’s physiology,” Mor said, “and we’re using our knowledge to meet the specific needs of women.” While athletes use Lumen for their training regimen, others use the device and app to manage their health by measuring how their body is burning calories and learning what they can do to “reach their health and fitness goals.” Mor says that Lumen has helped users lose weight when used on a consistent basis, but most importantly increases metabolic flexibility by 66%. She said there is no other company that offers people the chance to measure their metabolism at home. “What we want to do is translate people’s bodies for them,” Mor said. “We’re helping people look inside and get the information they need.” For more information, click here To read the original article click here.

Lori Alton via NaturalHealth365– Whether we call it exhaustion, burnout, tiredness, or fatigue, most of us experience low levels of energy from time to time. Many people turn to high-sugar, caffeine-laden foods and drinks to fight fatigue, but unpleasant side effects – such as the well-known “sugar crash” or jangled nerves from too much coffee – make these remedies far from ideal. Fortunately, studies suggest that certain herbs and nutrients can spur flagging concentration and boost energy. For instance, a recent review published in Frontiers in Pharmacology highlights the ability of Panax ginseng to increase fatigue resistance. The following natural solutions may help you restore mental sharpness and physical stamina – and turn your energy from “fizzling” to “sizzling.” Adaptogenic and Antioxidant Herbs Like Ginseng, Sage, & Goldenroot Can Improve Energy & Attention A time-honored herbal remedy for fatigue, ginseng contains antioxidant compounds called ginsenosides, which have been shown to improve exercise performance, boost mental alertness and lift mood. A 2020 scientific review showed that ginseng helped decrease fatigue and reduce malondialdehyde levels (a marker of oxidative stress) while increasing antioxidants such as glutathione and superoxide dismutase. The scientists concluded that ginseng could be recommended for “routine use” against fatigue. To bolster concentration, increase energy and brighten outlook, natural healers typically advise amounts from 200 mg to 1,000 mg of ginseng a day. Check with your integrative doctor before supplementing with ginseng. Botanically known as Salvia, sage is packed with potent antioxidants, including luteolin, rosmarinic acid, quercetin, and apigenin. This fragrant garden herb and cooking spice has long been associated with knowledge and learning. In fact, the word “sage” literally means “wise.” Studies have suggested that sage inhibits a compound known as acetylcholinesterase, which breaks down acetylcholine, a brain chemical important for healthy cognitive function. Researchers believe that this allows sage to help improve concentration, promote alertness and even enhance word recall. Natural health experts typically advise dried, powdered sage leaf in amounts of 300 to 600 mg a day – but get the thumbs-up from a physician before supplementing. Rhodiola rosea, also known as goldenroot and artic root, is classified as an adaptogen or substance acknowledged as helping the body adapt to physical and emotional stress. Native to Siberia, northern Europe, and Asia, rhodiola is treasured in herbal healing for its ability to improve physical stamina and improve alertness. In fact, it has traditionally been used by mountaineers in the Himalayas to enhance physical stamina and sharpen reflexes. Nowadays, rhodiola is believed to be particularly helpful against fatigue and “burnout” (emotional and/or physical exhaustion resulting from chronic occupational stress). In one study, 400 mg of rhodiola rosea a day significantly improved energy level, concentration, and mood. Consult with your integrative doctor before supplementing. Other herbs believed to have an energizing effect include gotu kola, maca, Siberian ginseng, and ashwagandha. Renew Energy with Essential Oils For many, the warm, spicy fragrance of peppermint is linked with a sense of increased well-being and renewed energy. Studies show that using this essential oil through aromatherapy can brighten mood, spark better athletic performance and increase alertness. A hybrid of spearmint – botanically known as Mentha spicata – and water mint, or Mentha aquatica, peppermint essential oil can be ingested by way of a diffuser. You can also use peppermint oil topically by mixing a few drops in a teaspoon of carrier oil, such as olive or coconut oil, and massaging it into the skin. Peppermint oil shouldn’t be taken internally and is not for use on children. Check with your doctor before using peppermint oil. (Pro tip: Other essential oils thought to boost energy include rosemary, lemon, cinnamon, and lavender). Boost Energy with Common-Sense Solutions Although it may seem counterintuitive, the truth is that sometimes you have to expend energy to boost energy. Taking a brisk stroll promotes healthy blood flow, which can help to restore a sense of vitality. In addition, an appropriate exercise program also supports a calm, stable mood, helping to reduce the anxiety that can drain energy. Restful sleep is also a “must.” The act of sleeping increases levels of ATP, or adenosine triphosphate, also known as the “energy” molecule. Between 7 and 9 hours of sleep, a night appears to be the sweet spot for optimal energy for most adults. Sleep hygiene experts advise sleeping in a totally darkened room, free of intrusive outdoor light and “blue” light from computer screens and cell phones. Being dehydrated can cause energy to plummet. Most authorities recommend that a 150-lb person consume about 75 ounces of water a day. Pure, filtered water flavored with lemon is a great choice for staying hydrated. Remember, liquid-rich fruits and vegetables, such as watermelon, can also help you reach your fluid quotient for the day. Keep sweetened and caffeinated beverages to a minimum. Of course, maintaining a healthy blood sugar level is the key by eating nutritious, organic meals with good quality fats and protein. Stay away from processed sugars – especially if you suffer with blood sugar problems. If you need help, seek the advice of an experienced health coach. Hopefully, you can enlist these solutions to help you fight “the blahs,” banish brain fog – and refresh and restore your energy levels naturally.

Dr. Don Colbert – As you move into a New Year, you may be ready to make health changes. You may be motivated and optimistic. Or, you may feel overwhelmed, fatigued or even discouraged by everything going on in the world today. No matter your current mood, to accomplish any goals this year, start with more energy! Feeling “more energy” is often subjective. In its simplest form, energy is derived from consuming calories, or units of energy. However, there’s more to it than that. There are vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and other compounds at work in our bodies that make consumed energy usable to the body. There is the health of cells, tissues, and organs, and whether or not they effectively respond to the compounds. There are also emotional, mental and physical factors that drain our energy and cause feelings of fatigue. Where can you start to get more energy? Let’s start with units of energy and compounds that help our body use them. Then, let’s focus on ways to make your cells healthy enough to effectively and efficiently use the energy. Lastly, let’s conquer a few “energy” drainers with simply healthy habits. Ready? Divine Health® Energizing Smoothie For More Energy Now! Ingredients 1 cup coconut or almond milk (from a carton, not can) 1/2 scoop Divine Health® Fermented Green Supremefood® 1/2 scoop Divine Health® Organic Red Supremefood® 1/2 cup frozen raw berries 1 cup fresh greens 1/2 avocado 1 Tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar 1 scoop Keto Zone® Collagen Powder (Unflavored) 1 scoop Keto Zone® Fiber Zone (Unflavored) 1/2-1 cup brewed green tea or black tea ice cubes (optional) Instructions Mix all ingredients in a blender, adding water as needed for desired consistently (I typically use about 1 cup water). Makes 1 large serving. Enjoy! Nutrition info: 415 calories, 13 grams fat, 8 grams net carbs (26 grams carbs, 18 grams fiber), 26 grams protein More Energy Ingredients Teas and Caffeine While there’s not much caffeine in this smoothie, there’s enough to “wake up” the brain and provide a subtle pick-me-up any time of day. How does caffeine affect energy? Caffeine crosses the blood-brain barrier to inhibit adenosine in the brain. Adenosine is a neurotransmitter that quiets the central nervous system (1). Then, without adenosine in the way, epinephrine increases. Epinephrine stimulates the body and brain. These effects are enough to increase subjective feelings of energy, physical performance, and brain alertness. What’s more, green and black tea contain antioxidants and phytochemicals to support cellular and whole-body health. In fact, green tea contains a compound called L-theanine. L-theanine promotes steady energy (2). Green tea has also been shown to boost physical performance, increase the breakdown of fat for energy, and stimulate norepinephrine(3, 4, 5). Chlorophyll Chlorophyll, found in Divine Health® Fermented Green Supremefood® and fresh greens, is the lifeblood of plants. When consumed by humans, it’s one of the best energizing foods. Similar to hemoglobin, chlorophyll carries nutrients in the blood. However, it doesn’t carry iron. It carries another energizing mineral, magnesium (6). Magnesium supports the production of energy throughout the body as well as healthy sleep cycles. Furthermore, chlorophyll helps alkalize the body and urine pH. This supports liver function and helps the body remove toxins like metals, pesticides, and more. Look to chlorophyll to energize your body in many of the same ways it energizes and stimulates plants! Organic Apple Cider Vinegar Organic apple cider vinegar is an ingredient in many folk medicine cures. It is known to fight both bacterial and viral infections, yeasts, and more. How does it energize? One great effect of consuming apple cider vinegar is that it causes the sinuses to drain and throat pathways to clear. As they clear and dilate, they allow for better oxygen transport from your head to your lungs to your body. Essentially, it promotes clear breathing! Importantly, you should never drink it straight. Always dilute to just 1-2 tablespoons per 8 ounces liquid to protect your esophagus while supporting immune health, liver health, and alkalization of the body. Beets Beets are vibrant and nutritious. They contain amazingly energizing compounds, called betanins. Betanins are responsible for beet’s many health benefits in the human body, including antioxidant and anti-inflammatory actions (7). What’s more, beets also support the production and work of glutathione, a powerful antioxidant our cells make to fight damaging substances. Beets also promote vasodilation. This makes them one of the great energizing foods! Beets contain natural nitrates that are converted to nitric oxides in the body. Nitric oxides dilate blood vessels, allowing more oxygen to circulate more efficiently. Nitric oxide may also increase muscle tissues’ ability to use oxygen (8). One of the best ways to get the power of beets is through a fruit and vegetable powder like Divine Health® Organic Red Supremefood®. Fiber Believe it or not, your digestive tract health is one key to energizing your body. In fact, specific fibers, called inulin and psyllium husk, directly support digestive health and energy. They both stimulate the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut, improve digestion, and support immune health (9, 10). When digestion is working right, your body can absorb and use all the energizing foods and nutrients you give it! For a great source of inulin and psyllium husk, try a high-quality fiber powder such as Keto Zone®Fiber Zone (Unflavored). More Energy Habits for the New Year Of course, there are many factors, lifestyle habits, and individual characteristics that contribute to feelings of energy or fatigue in each of us. Here are a few to focus on as you work for more energy this year: Sleep. Obviously, if you don’t get enough sleep, you’re going to feel tired, low, and fatigued. What’s more, lack of sleep actually contributes to many health issues (11). Aim for at least 7-8 hours of high-quality sleep every night for better energy and mood this year. De-Stress. When stress and cortisol build up, we feel a cascade of effects. These effects include fatigue and overwhelm. Chronic high stress can even affect your health (12). Use daily tools, like these, to reduce stress and feel more energy. Exercise. Exercise, especially outdoors, is a great mood lifter and energizer (13)! Hydrate. Did you know that dehydration promotes feelings of being overwhelmed, fatigued, and foggy? Amazingly, dehydrated adults often feel more stress and have more cortisol (14)? Did you also know that most adults function in a state of dehydration each day? There’s an easy fix! Try to drink 32-48 ounces of water by noon, and another 32-48 ounces of water by 6pm each day. If you exercise, drink more! Sunshine. Natural sunlight is one of nature’s best mood lifters and energizers. In fact, sunlight has been shown to decrease depressed moods and increase serotonin levels (15). Cold Shower. Even though it may be frigid outside, an icy blast in the shower is still a good idea! Why? It invigorates and energizes the body and immune system. Nature’s Best Stress Relief. Amazingly, nano-particle hemp oils like those Dr. Colbert’s Nano-Science Hemp Oil, can help you feel more energy by supporting stable moods (16), stress relief and normalized cortisol levels, healthy sleep habits (17), healthy brain and nervous system functions (18), and healthy cardiovascular functions(19). Bottom Line Before working on a list of positive changes for the new year, simply learn how to energize your body better! Start with our Divine Health More Energy Smoothie, add delicious, healthy, energizing foods to your diet, and work on lifestyle habits that support health and energy. It’s a new year.

Lorie Johnson via CBN News – Do you feel tired all the time? If so, you’re not alone. Too many of us feel sluggish because we consume too many unhealthy foods and drinks. Other lifestyle choices can add to the problem. Over time the problem has gotten worse, according to best-selling author Dr. Steven Gundry who says certain energy traps rob of us our vitality and cause us to feel sick and tired most days, which is a threat to our health. “Fatigue and tiredness is an epidemic in this country,” he told CBN News, “Well over fifty percent of people actually complain of chronic tiredness and that includes Millennials. And that’s certainly not our experience in years past.” In his book The Energy Paradox: What to Do When Your Get-Up-and-Go Has Got Up and Gone, Dr. Gundry describes the changes to our modern lifestyle that have led to increased tiredness, moodiness, brain fog, or weight gain. “Two o’clock in the afternoon all systems seem to go on pause,” he explained, “You don’t feel like working or doing anything with the kids, want to lie down or reach for an energy bar or some other type of pick me up like a cup of coffee.” Unhealthy Gut Dr. Gundry says the primary cause of our low energy stems from an unhealthy gut. He said too many of us lack the good bacteria, called probiotics, that are necessary to adequately power our bodies. Probiotics can be consumed in a number of ways, such as in supplements, foods like yogurt and kimchi as well as beverages like kombucha. Additionally, those bacteria need to flourish by eating fiber-rich foods called prebiotics. Prebiotics can be consumed in supplement form and in many fiber-rich foods like fresh vegetables such as asparagus, onions, dandelion greens, and broccoli. The good bacteria “Actually actually communicate to the energy-producing organelles in all our cells called the mitochondria to make more energy, Dr. Gundry said, “So the probiotics that you manufacture by eating prebiotics literally turbocharges your energy.” Dr. Gundry went on to explain that an unhealthy gut often leaks, thereby further depleting our body’s energy reserves. “If you’re tired and fatigued you have leaky gut,” he said. That’s the condition where holes develop in the thin lining of the gut, allowing food and proteins to escape. When that happens, it causes an immune reaction, which triggers inflammation, a process that drains huge amounts of our precious energy. “Inflammation is actually our white blood cells, our immune system, our foot soldiers, if you will, attacking threats that come into our body primarily through the lining of our gut,” he said. Dr. Gundry says unhealthy foods such as sugar and processed foods can harm the gut. Don’t Overmedicate Dr. Gundry says too many medications can also harm the gut, particularly antibiotics. “Please, please, please try to avoid taking antibiotics for simple things like runny noses or scratchy throats,” he said, adding that antibiotics kill virtually all of the bacteria in the gut. Sometimes antibiotics are life-saving drugs that effectively treat deadly bacterial infections. However, too often they are used to treat viral infections and therefore have no effect at all except to destroy the good gut bacteria. Furthermore, Dr. Gundry warns about eating foods that have been given these drugs. “Try to avoid eating animals that have been raised with antibiotics with factory farms,” he said, “It turns out antibiotics kill off most of the good bugs in our intestines that actually protect us from leaky gut.” “We actually produce ATP, energy, from sunlight exposure,” he said. In order to feel energetic during the day, we need a good night’s sleep. However, blue light coming from our electronics can keep us from falling asleep. Dr. Gundry recommends turning them off hours before bedtime or at night, wearing glasses that block the blue light. Dr. Gundry warns against taking certain heartburn and acid indigestion medications longer than two weeks. “We now know that these actually stop the energy-producing organelles the mitochondria from working because they interrupt how mitochondria produce energy which is called proton pumping,” he said. More Vitamin D, Better Sleep Dr. Gundry says people suffering from low energy usually need more Vitamin D. He recommends a 5,000 IU daily supplement and more time outside.

Dr. Don Colbert – Being a mom is a wonderful journey. From being a young mom with a young family to middle age and senior years, moms need energy, a clear head, good health, and convenient choices. They do a lot. Typically, their energy is spent on others. Keto Zone helps moms stay healthy throughout life, and focus on themselves. If you’re a mom or know one, you know moms deserve the best. Keto Zone is here for moms! Keto Zone Helps Moms Stay Healthy — Starting With Young If there’s one thing that summarizes a young mom’s life, it’s feeling busy. Having a baby, toddlers, small children and school-aged kids can feel overwhelming. Oftentimes, young moms put their own health, fitness, and well-being on the back burner while taking care of a young family. Thankfully, the Keto Zone Diet and Keto Zone Shakes contain great nutrients for overall health and a healthy weight, and they can be incredibly convenient for busy moms. Primarily, the Keto Zone is based on healthy fats. The Keto Zone diet and Keto Zone Shake contains MCT oil powder and avocado oil powder. Both are great for health and lasting energy. Keto Zone’s healthy fats and nutrients specifically: Promote weight loss while keeping you feeling full. In fact, a high-fat diet helps you stay satisfied and satiated even when losing weight (1). Target abdominal fat. Many moms struggle with losing stubborn abdominal fat. Keto Zone Shakes’ fats promote abdominal fat loss, especially compared to high-carbohydrate diets. It will improve whole-body health and can reduce the risk of chronic disease (2, 3). Provide the substrates for ketosis. If you are using Keto Zone as a diet and lifestyle, you need healthy fats to enter the Keto Zones. The fats in the Keto Zone Shake are perfect for ketosis and also work as brain fuel for clarity, focus, and improved brain health (4). Utilize fibers instead of refined carbohydrates. In fact, each serving of Keto Zone Shake include 8 grams of fiber! These fibers are derived from sweet potato fiber and chicory root, a fructooligosaccharide (FOS). Fructooligosaccharides are very important in the body and support healthy bacteria colonies in the gut, which play a role in whole-body health and immune function (5, 6, 7). Is high in antioxidants and anti-inflammatories. These compounds fight free radicals that damage and age our cells, and reduce inflammation associated with chronic disease. Contains moderate amounts of protein. Protein helps young moms rebuild and restore cells. It also promotes hormone balance and overall health. If you’re considering a healthy diet as a young mom, treat yourself to Keto Zone. The overall diet, which is detailed in the Keto Zone Diet Book, and Keto Zone Shakes, can make it easy to take care of your health each day. Keto Zone Helps Moms Stay Healthy Throughout Middle Age As a mom enters middle age, she may want to stay healthy, be full of energy, age beautifully, and feel completely clear-headed. Keto Zone helps moms stay healthy through middle age. In addition to providing all the nutrients and health benefits listed above for young mom, Keto Zone is: Anti-Aging: It’s high use of healthy oils and fats, such as olive oil, targets the challenges of aging. Incredibly, more than 200 different chemical compounds have been detected in olive oil such as sterols, carotenoids, triterpenic alcohols, and phenolic compounds. In addition to oleic acid, olive oil’s other minor nutrients, like vitamin E and polyphenols, can alter and improve gene expression, pathways, and more (8). This means beautiful healthy skin and young cells. Energizing: The Keto Zone Diet and Shakes provide amazing energy by utilizing ketones. This energy is not like the ups and downs associated with a high-carbohydrate diet, but steady, long-lasting energy. Clear and focused: One amazing aspect of ketones is that they help provide your brain with energy. Most Keto Zone dieters report feeling clear-headed, focused, and on-task. Ketones are amazingly beneficial to brain health. Keto Zone Helps Moms Stay Healthy Through Menopause and Senior Years One hallmark of menopause is a difficulty in maintaining a healthy weight. Unfortunately, many women report difficulty losing weight, and an increase in abdominal fat. One issue is that women experience a lesser ability to deal with carbohydrates. Blood sugars and insulin levels often increase. Keto Zone can help. Just like in younger years, Keto Zone promotes abdominal fat loss. Since it contains minimal carbohydrates, it can help moms sail through menopause without weight gain. What’s more, Keto Zone Hormone Zone and Thyroid Zone support a mom’s changing hormone levels. This can be a huge help as estrogen, progesterone, and thyroid hormones change throughout the lifecycle. Bottom Line It’s almost Mother’s Day. This year, treat yourself or another mom you know to Keto Zone. You can start with the Keto Zone Diet Book, Keto Zone Shakes, or the 21-Day Free Keto Zone Challenge. You’ll find health, energy, and focus. It’s one of the greatest gifts in life: health. Keto Zone helps moms stay healthy! To read the original article click here.

Dr. Don Colbert – Stress and anxiety are skyrocketing in our country and our world. From the fear of sickness to job-related stress to political unrest and more, we are carrying heavy burdens. And, it’s not good. For the sake of our mental health, physical health, and community health, it’s imperative to reduce stress now. We’ve got a plan. Here’s what stress does to your body and a 10-minute plan you can do every day, or several times per day, to stop stress in its tracks and take back control of your mind. How Stress Affects Your Health High levels of mental stress are not good for your brain, your health, your relationships, or your immune system. Chronically elevated cortisol levels can affect all our body’s systems. Cortisol is a hormone that’s released by the adrenal glands when the body faces stress. In modern times, this stress is often more mental than physical and usually has no outlet. For many, it’s chronic. It builds. And it does damage. High blood cortisol levels are correlated with weight gain and impaired loss, increased blood pressure, negative impacts on mood, sleep and energy, an increased incidence of diabetes and heart disease, and even lower brain volume and memory issues (1). Real Problems Vs. Mental Stress If you don’t think a 10-minute-plan can really reduce stress and cortisol right now, who can blame you? Anxiety can stem from real-life problems, and these can rarely be solved in 10 minutes. But, here’s the thing: stress is different than problems. Stress is worrying about them and allowing your brain to “play” your worries on repeat. It doesn’t actually solve anything. Everyone has problems. But it doesn’t mean you have to live with high levels of stress. In fact, much of our stress is actually made up. It’s been said 85% of our worries are about things that never happen. Think about that. What if you reduced your worries by 85% just by not allowing lies and “made-up situations” to consume your thoughts. Stress lives in our brains and manifests to harm our health physically. If some of your stress is “made up” or “made bigger” in your brain, you can absolutely outsmart it and take control in 10 minutes. Some Problems Are Very Real This is not to downplay the challenges in your life that are very real. Sickness and disease are real. Death is real. Every human must grapple with problems in their lives. Some of them are heart-wrenching. The trick is to eliminate the ones that aren’t real or that we cannot control. Sometimes, we lose our perspective and allow ourselves to engage in more anxiety than our problems demand. Today, you can determine which problems actually require your time and energy, and which you can “let go.” Ready for less stress in 10 minutes? Start the clock. 10 Minutes to Reduce Stress Now All you need is 10 minutes, a pencil, paper, and access to Scripture (if not memorized). MINUTE #1. CALM YOUR MIND WITH MINDFUL BREATHING First, let’s get our minds straight. Get into the “moment” and out of our emotions and worries. If you feel frantic, you can’t really think through your stress. It feeds on frantic. Take the first minute (set a timer) to breathe and slow down. Here’s how: While pressing your tongue strongly against the roof of your mouth, breathe in slowly. Then, allow your tongue to completely relax and lower, even allowing your mouth to hand open if you want, and slowly breathe out. Do this for the entire 1st minute. MINUTE #2: WRITE YOUR WORRIES DOWN Next, take a full minute and write down all your worries. This is a free-for-all. Scribble all your worries on your paper. MINUTE #3: CONSIDER YOUR LIST OF WORRIES VS. “REAL PROBLEMS” Look back at your list of worries. Which hasn’t even happened yet? Which have you made up? Cross these out. Next, which worries are real problems in your life? We will have struggles, this is guaranteed. Circle these. Lastly, determine with are within your control (those you can take action on) and which are entirely out of your control. Remember, you can’t always control outcomes. You can’t control other people’s feelings, actions, or lives. Look at the circled “problems” you can’t control. Draw an “x” over them. But, don’t erase them, they are still worth your prayers. God certainly can control them. But, if you can’t take action, they must come off your list of stress. Now, how many remain circled (without an “)? These are the things you can control or take action. You’ll consider these more in the next few minutes. MINUTE #4-5: PRAY OVER YOUR WORRIES, PRAY FOR YOUR ENEMIES. PRAY FOR YOUR ACTUAL PROBLEMS. BE SPECIFIC. Look at your list, and pray for each thing you wrote down one by one. Not only does prayer reduce stress and increase optimism, but it can also actually improve physical health (2). If it’s an issue that’s really someone else’s issue, pray for that person. If it’s made-up, pray that God will take that thought captive and give you peace. If it’s an actual problem in your life, pray for clarity and strength to move forward as needed. Or, for the wisdom to wait. MINUTES #6-7: MEET YOUR WORRIES HEAD-ON WITH AN ACTION PLAN IF POSSIBLE Look at the circled items on your list (those without an x). These are the ONLY ones to focus on now. Take a few minutes to meet these head-on. If you have many listed, consider only working on your top 3 at a time. You’ve prayed for the others and can come back to those at another time. Jot down actions you can take with these items. If you don’t know, pray for them individually again and ask God to align your actions and thoughts with His will. Sometimes, this means no action. For example: You may be really worried that your political party won’t win. You’ve already taken action in voting. Now, it’s somewhat out of your control. In REALISTIC terms, play out that scenario. If your choice doesn’t win, your taxes may be affected. Your business or job may be affected. Your outlook on our country and worldwide politics may be affected. But, in everyday life, you can still choose to work hard and love those around you. You can still choose to work towards your goals. Our country has checks and balances. And, we are blessed enough to vote for our choice in leadership every four years. In the meantime, you can continue to pray. You can also take action in your community to support the programs for which you care. Or, maybe your stress stems from how a person is treating you or a family member. A dispute with a neighbor, family member, or co-worker. First, pray for them. Pray that God will bless them and affect their lives. Then, force yourself to give them the benefit of the doubt, thinking that they are doing the best they can with the situation they are in. This may or may not be true. But, if you choose to believe this, your stress will be reduced. If they’ve wronged you, choose to forgive whether they’ve asked for it or not. This is about your health and relationship with God. Set healthy boundaries with them if needed. These are your actions. You are in control of this. Perhaps you are facing a serious health threat. If this is a worry that hasn’t actually happened, pray that God helps you take control of your fears. If it has happened, focus on what you can do to be healthy and happy each day. Pray for wellness, pray for peace, and pray for miracles. They do happen, and optimism can actually improve health and reduce pain reactions (3). In the meantime, eat well, exercise, and prioritize sleep. MINUTE #8: MOVE FORWARD WITH TRUTH On the same sheet of paper, write down and memorize one verse from Scripture, from your favorite praise song, or a mantra to repeat to yourself when you are stressed. You can rewire your brain to stop stressful thoughts in their tracks, and play life-giving truths in their place. There’s a reason we are encouraged to memorize scripture and write it on our hearts. When it’s in your thoughts, there’s not as much room for stress. For example: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 5: 35-38 MINUTE #9: GIVE PRAISE TO GOD FOR BEING GOD Have you ever taken an entire minute and praised God? Praise Him for His attributes, completely separate from your circumstances. When Jesus said the Lord’s prayer, He started with praising the Father. “Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.” -Luke 11:2 Pure praise to God for being God. Meditate on His character. When this is your perspective, it’s easier to realize that your burdens are in good hands. MINUTE #10: GIVE THANKS. FOCUS ON WHO MATTERS MOST IN YOUR LIFE. Lastly, give thanks for your blessings. Go back to your paper. Prayerfully write down your gratitudes. Write down big and small blessings. Fill your heart with gratitude and your stress will diminish. If you’d like, extend the writing of gratitude throughout the day. When you see something or think of something for which you’re thankful, write it down and thank God! Did that take more than 10 minutes? The first few times, this routine may take a bit longer. You’re learning a new habit. It will become easier and smoother as you continue to practice it. Bonus: We Can Change Our World If you’ve got extra time after reducing your stress, even just 5 minutes, think of and act on one small kindness you can do for someone else right now. A quick text or note telling someone you appreciate them or are praying for them. A $5 small gift for someone. A card. A hug. A compliment. How much less stress would we all feel if every day all of us took the extra 5 minutes for one act of kindness? Can you imagine? It’s true: We can change our world. Bottom Line As a people with real hope in a real God, it’s time to stop this outbreak of skyrocketing stress. It’s time to meet despair head-on, and fight. Take 10 minutes. Reduce stress now. Then, go beyond your own stress and spread love and hope to others. We can do this, no matter our circumstances this day. To read the original article click here.
