Kyra Oliver via Dr. Axe – Having acne is no picnic for anyone. Not only do people suffer from the embarrassing state of their skin, but often it can leave behind nasty acne scars that can last a lifetime if left untreated, leaving many searching for ways to get rid of scarring, such as an acne scar removal face mask. Unfortunately, in search of how to get rid of acne scars, most rush to the nearest drugstore for ineffective topical medications or get dangerous prescription drugs that are often equally useless. To really make a difference, you must address the cause (clogged pores, bacteria, excess oil production, hormones, diet, stress and certain medications) of your acne and use the best home remedies for acne. Next, to address the unsightly scars that can form, try this acne scar removal face mask. Utilizing essential oils for acne, such as tea tree, frankincense and helichrysum essential oils, it’s a careful blend of powerful ingredients meant to naturally reduce scarring. Key ingredients Acne scars can be frustrating reminders of past breakouts, often affecting confidence long after the pimples are gone. Natural remedies offer a gentle yet effective way to fade these marks over time. This simple, do-it-yourself face mask powered by healing oils and wholesome ingredients is perfect for those seeking a fresh-faced glow without harsh chemicals. Here are the key players in this DIY acne scar removal face mask. Lemon juice A natural astringent and mild bleaching agent, lemon juice helps lighten dark spots and hyperpigmentation associated with acne scars. It also provides antioxidant protection. Honey With its natural humectant properties, honey keeps skin hydrated while promoting wound healing. It also possesses antibacterial qualities, supporting scar recovery. Almond oil A light, non‑comedogenic carrier oil rich in vitamins E and A, almond oil soothes inflammation, nourishes the skin and supports optimal healing. Its gentle texture makes it ideal for delicate post-acne skin. Tea tree essential oil Tea tree oil is a powerhouse for acne and blemish-prone skin thanks to its antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties. It speeds healing and helps fade scars. A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study found that topical 5 percent tea tree oil for acne was 3.55 times and 5.75 times more effective than the placebo in treating mild to moderate acne. Frankincense essential oil Known for its astringent and regenerative properties, frankincense improves skin tone, reduces scar visibility and supports healing. It helps tighten pores and even skin texture. Helichrysum essential oil Often called the “immortelle” oil, helichrysum essential oil reduces inflammation and promotes tissue repair. Clinically recognized for its anti-inflammatory components like arzanol, it’s highly regarded for scar therapy. Unsurprisingly, it’s one of the top essential oils for scars, which is why it’s part of this acne scar removal face mask. How to make an acne scar removal face mask This homemade acne scar removal face mask takes less than 10 minutes to make, and it’s certainly worth the little time it takes. To start, combine the lemon juice, honey and almond oil in a jar, and mix until smooth. Then, add the essential oils, and stir gently to distribute them throughout the mixture. Mix it all well, and it’s ready to go. To use this DIY acne scar removal face mask, perform a patch test first on a small area of your skin (such as your inner arm) to make sure you don’t have a negative skin reaction. If your skin doesn’t have irritation or sensitivity, it’s safe for sure. Apply a thin, even layer to clean, dry skin, focusing on the areas with acne scars. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes, and feel free to apply it daily. After 15-20 minutes, rinse this acne scar removal face mask off with lukewarm water. Pat dry the area, and use a gentle moisturizer after for optimal skin benefits. Try this mask once daily for about eight to 10 days. If you notice any discomfort, discontinue use, or apply every other day. Safety tips Patch test before use: Discontinue if skin becomes red, itchy or inflamed. Sun sensitivity alert: Lemon juice can increase UV sensitivity. Always use sunscreen after. Stick to pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils to ensure safety and efficacy. This DIY acne scar face mask combines time-tested natural ingredients into a potent blend that fades scars gently over time. With consistent use (and sun protection), it supports brighter, smoother skin. Just be patient: Natural healing takes weeks to months. It does not create miracles in days.

HRS Editors via Natural News – While store-bought mouthwashes promise a quick fix, many contain harsh chemicals like alcohol, artificial dyes and synthetic flavors that can irritate your mouth and even disrupt your oral microbiome. Bad breath (halitosis) is a common issue caused by bacteria in the mouth breaking down food particles and releasing sulfur compounds that produce unpleasant odors. While brushing, flossing and tongue scraping are essential, natural mouthwashes can offer additional protection and a means to avoid harsh chemicals. Many store-bought mouthwashes contain alcohol, artificial dyes and synthetic flavors that can dry out the mouth, worsen bad breath and irritate the oral microbiome. DIY natural mouthwashes do not contain harmful chemicals, are cost-effective and use gentle ingredients. They provide a safer, more sustainable option for maintaining fresh breath and oral hygiene. Switching to natural mouthwashes reduces exposure to harmful chemicals, promotes a healthier lifestyle and supports sustainable practices. Lab-verified natural products are also a reliable alternative for those seeking non-toxic oral care solutions. Bad breath is a universal concern that can strike anyone, anytime. Whether it’s the lingering aroma of garlic from last night’s dinner or the result of bacteria thriving in your mouth, bad breath (or halitosis) is something most people want to avoid. (h/t to Healthline.com) While store-bought mouthwashes promise a quick fix, many contain harsh chemicals like alcohol, artificial dyes and synthetic flavors that can irritate your mouth and even disrupt your oral microbiome. Fortunately, you don’t need to rely on commercial products to keep your breath fresh. Natural alternatives, made with simple ingredients, can be just as effective and are even gentler on your body. Why go natural? Bad breath typically originates in the mouth, where bacteria feast on food particles left behind after meals. These bacteria release sulfur compounds, which are responsible for that unpleasant odor. While brushing, flossing and tongue scraping are essential for maintaining oral hygiene, a natural mouthwash can provide an extra layer of protection. (Related: Consumer beware: Harmful ingredients in toothpaste and natural alternatives you can use.) However, store-bought mouthwashes often contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth and actually worsen bad breath over time. Other ingredients, like chlorhexidine and sodium lauryl sulfate, may cause irritation or allergic reactions in some people. Chlorhexidine has also been found to cause temporary teeth staining after use. By switching to a natural alternative, you can avoid harsh chemicals while still enjoying fresh breath and a clean mouth. The benefits of making your own mouthwash Here are some reasons to try making natural mouthwash alternatives: No mystery ingredients When you make your own mouthwash, you know exactly what’s in it, unlike store-bought products that may contain hidden chemicals or artificial additives. Gentle on your mouth Natural ingredients like baking soda, essential oils and honey are less likely to cause irritation or dryness. Cost-effective Homemade mouthwash is often cheaper than store-bought options, especially if you already have some of the ingredients at home. Mouthwash recipes to try at home Here are two easy-to-make, natural mouthwash recipes that will leave your breath feeling fresh and your mouth feeling clean. Simple mouthwash This recipe is perfect if you want a quick, no-fuss solution. Baking soda neutralizes odors while tea tree oil has natural cleansing properties. Peppermint oil adds a refreshing minty flavor. Ingredients: 1 Cup of filtered water 4 Teaspoons of baking soda 4 Drops of tea tree essential oil 4 Drops of peppermint essential oil Instructions: Add the ingredients to a Mason jar or any container with an airtight lid. Shake well to combine. Use about two tablespoons of the mixture as a mouthwash. Swish the liquid in your mouth for at least 30 seconds before spitting it out. Shake well before each use because the baking soda may settle at the bottom. Cinnamon and honey mouthwash This recipe combines the natural sweetness of honey with the warm spice of cinnamon. Lemon juice helps balance pH levels while baking soda gently cleanses. Ingredients: 1 Cup of warm water 2 Organic lemons, juiced 1/2 Tablespoon of cinnamon powder 5 Teaspoons of raw, organic honey 1 Teaspoon of baking soda Instructions: In a Mason jar or a similar container with an airtight lid, add the lemon juice, honey, baking soda and cinnamon. Pour in the warm water. Make sure it’s warm enough to melt the honey. Close the lid and shake vigorously for one minute. Store in the refrigerator and use two tablespoons as a mouth rinse. Switching to natural oral care products isn’t just about fresher breath. It’s about protecting your family from unnecessary exposure to harsh chemicals. By making your own mouthwash, you’re taking a small but meaningful step toward a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle. Alternatively, you can try lab-verified products made with natural and non-toxic ingredients to ensure that your breath stays fresh without any harmful ingredients.

Recipe by: Dr. Josh Axe, DC, DNM, CN via Dr. Axe – The average dishwashing detergent has some unhealthy ingredients, so why not make a DIY dishwashing detergent right at home? Not only will you save a ton of money, but you can also be positive that the ingredients are safe for you, your family and the environment without question. Did you know that many conventional dishwashing detergents contain some ingredients that are not safe for you and your family? According to the Environmental Working Group (EWG) and its “guide to healthy cleaning,” these detergents can include phosphates, preservatives, formaldehyde and more. Some of these products “may contain ingredients with potential for acute aquatic toxicity; chronic aquatic toxicity; nervous system effects.” Yikes. Instead, consider making your own homemade dishwasher detergent. Not only will you save a ton of money, but you can also be positive that the ingredients are safe for you, your family and the environment without question. (And for a backup store-bought dishwasher detergent, opt for one of these.) How to Make DIY Dishwasher Soap In a medium bowl, add the washing soda and purified water. Washing soda is a chemical compound that is safe to use for removing dirt and grease. It can even treat hard water. More specifically, it is the salt of carbonic acid. Because washing soda is often made from the ashes of burned plants, you may see it named as soda ash. Purified water is important to help avoid chemical contamination. Blend these ingredients. Next, stir in the vinegar, citric acid and kosher salt for this homemade dishwasher detergent. White vinegar helps disinfect safely but also helps keep your dishes spot free. The vinegar contains acetic acid, which helps take the grease off while acting as a rinsing agent. Citric acid helps add some shine to your dishes while removing the minerals that may be caused by hard water found in your area. Kosher salt is an amazing ingredient because it is a mild preservative and can get some of those tough to clean stains off of your dishes by acting as a gentle scouring agent. It’s now time to add the essential oils and mix well. Wild orange oil is perfect because it fights off grease and bacteria while enhancing your kitchen with a delightful scent. Lemon essential oil is a powerhouse of freshness, and it’s a great in a homemade dishwasher detergent. Pour into a glass bottle and store in the fridge. Tips To use, give the bottle a good shake and then add your DIY dishwasher soap to the dispenser. About 1½–2 tablespoons of detergent per load should do the trick. I suggest storing your homemade dishwasher detergent in the refrigerator to prevent fermentation and mold since it is chemical and preservative-free. A quick rinse before loading the dishwasher can provide a boost to a good set up of clean dishes. Precautions Though this homemade dishwasher detergent is safe, it’s best to keep it out of reach from children and pets. If you notice any irritation, please discontinue use. For best results, make sure to clean your dishwasher periodically. You can run the dishwasher using a cup or two of vinegar and baking soda to help provide a thorough cleansing. AUTHOR: Dr. Josh Axe TOTAL TIME: 10 minutes YIELD: 30 uses Ingredients ▢ 2 ounces washing soda ▢ 3¼ cups purified water ▢ 4 ounces white vinegar ▢ 1 ounce citric acid powder ▢ 1 cup kosher salt ▢ 20 drops orange essential oil ▢ 20 drops lemon essential oil Instructions In a medium bowl, add the washing soda and purified water and mix well with a wooden spoon. Stir in the vinegar, citric acid and kosher salt. Add the essential oils and mix well. Pour into a glass bottle and store in the fridge to prevent fermentation and mold (since it is chemical and preservative-free). Use about 1½–2 tablespoons of detergent per load. Give the bottle a good shake before dispensing. Notes Because this is a chemical-free dishwasher detergent, you need to give your dishes a quick scrub and rinse before loading.
