Al Sears, MD, CNS – A couple of weeks ago, I told you the EPA and the FDA gave Bayer Pharmaceuticals the greenlight to keep selling the weed killer Roundup… They did this even though multiple studies show that chemical herbicides and pesticides are linked to Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease, and cancer. And now, a recent study has clearly linked these toxins to type 2 diabetes. In a brand-new study that examined farmers who use organophosphates — the most commonly used pesticides — the results couldn’t be more clear… “The prevalence of diabetes was positively associated with exposure to all types of pesticides and insecticides.”1 Another study proved that chemicals found in common insecticides and pesticides are also key diabetes triggers and may be responsible for hundreds of thousands of diabetes-related deaths every year. The researchers found that two chemicals, in particular, carbaryl and carbofuran, bind to the receptors on your cells that govern your biological clock. And this can lead directly to diabetes.2 Let me explain… Although it’s illegal in several countries, carbaryl is the third most widely used insecticide in the U.S. Carbofuran, the most toxic carbamate insecticide has been banned in the U.S. since 2009. But it’s still widely used in places where we import a lot of our produce, like Mexico and Brazil. Carbaryl and carbofuran are what are known as “POPs” — persistent organic pollutants. These chemicals don’t biodegrade easily, so they stay in the environment for a long time. But here’s where the diabetes connection comes into play… Researchers found that both carbaryl and carbofuran are structurally similar to melatonin. That’s the hormone that controls your body’s circadian rhythm – or internal clock. And your circadian rhythm does much more than controlling your sleep cycles. It also controls the metabolism of some brain-wave activity, hormone production, cell regeneration, and other biological activities, including glucose levels and insulin secretion — key factors in type 2 diabetics. There’s a very delicate balance between the release of insulin from your pancreas and glucose levels in your blood, at very specific times of the day. Studies show that if the balance gets disrupted for long periods of time, it can trigger the development of diabetes.3 That’s exactly what the insecticides carbaryl and carbofuran do. They mimic melatonin and wreak havoc with your circadian rhythms. This disruption of your body’s natural circadian rhythm substantially raises your risk of diabetes. Along with a whole host of other diseases including: Heart disease Stroke Respiratory problems Depression Breast, prostate, and colon cancer Obesity Eat These 3 Superfoods to Flush Pesticides From Your Body In a recent letter, I shared how to protect yourself from the deadliest pesticide of all time. The next step in protecting yourself is to get rid of the toxic accumulation of chemicals in your body. One great way to do this is by detoxifying superfoods. Foods rich in vitamin C like fruits, berries, and fresh vegetables will help do the trick, along with fiber-rich nuts and seeds. But some foods are superstars when it comes to flushing the toxins from your system: Make grapefruit your citrus of choice. Grapefruit contains naringenin, a potent antioxidant that decreases your body’s insulin resistance to help prevent diabetes and reprogram your liver to melt excess fat, instead of storing it. This is extremely important for detoxification because insecticide toxins like carbaryl and carbofuran tend to collect in the fat around your tissues. Eating grapefruit will help you stop this process. Eat the oldest food on earth. Spirulina is a kind of blue-green algae and the world’s richest source of vitamins, minerals, iron, protein, and a host of other nutrients. But, it’s also a powerful detoxifier. Go green with barley grass. This superfood is made up of unique amino acid chains. And it’s so well balanced, it has the EXACT blend of amino acids, proteins, enzymes, vitamins, and minerals that you need for optimum health. The major contributors behind its detoxification powers are the trace elements zinc, selenium, and copper. High levels of beta-carotene energize the cleansing of waste materials such as mucus and crystallized acids, and it has a powerful detoxifying effect on your liver.

Wendy Miller via NaturalHealth365 – Do you ever wonder what is in your food? Most people blindly believe that if you buy from a “good company” like Whole Foods Market, Target, and Hy-Vee, you are getting quality foods safe for you and your family. Apparently, that isn’t the case and companies like Quaker Oats, those that make wheat bread, are some of the worst. The scariest part is that the FDA knows about most foods with higher than expected glyphosate levels and still considers them safe. Even non-GMO products have shown significant levels of weedkillers. Most Widely Used Weedkiller in U.S. Linked to Causing Cancer in Humans According to the National Pesticide Information Center, glyphosate is an herbicide used to kill broadleaf plants and grasses. Glyphosate is one of the most commonly used weedkillers in the U.S. and has been used since the 1970s. Roundup, the brand name of a broad-spectrum glyphosate-based herbicide initially made by Monsanto, has been linked to causing cancer in humans. Bayer/Monsanto, the maker of Roundup, has paid millions in damages to people who have used the weedkiller and consequently have been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma or other types of cancer. We are told it is natural and safe for small traces of pesticides and weedkillers to be found in agricultural products. But is that really so? And why is a known carcinogen being sprayed on our crops, anyway? And how much is too much? TOXIC Foods: Despite Risk of Severe Adverse Health Effects, Glyphosate Contamination Is Widespread Glyphosate can be found in foods as well as baby items like diapers. When used as a weedkiller, it can be found on grains and any other mass-produced farm crop. It can also be found in vegetables and fruits grown in your own gardens if you choose to use Roundup or other types of chemicals. If you live next to a large farming operation, you also run the risk of contamination through run-off from the farmer’s acreage to yours. It is mind-boggling to imagine that the chemical is used on over 70 different crops. Some examples of contaminated foods are rice, almonds, grapes, garbanzo beans, and sunflowers. How Much Gyphosate Is Too Much? The Answer May Surprise You In the United States, exposure to 1.75mg/kg BW/day glyphosate is considered acceptable. In Europe, the acceptable limit is much lower; 0.3 mg/kg BW/day. But it turns out, levels considered acceptable by government authorities do not necessarily mean safe. Both amounts have already been proven too high to be safe, but the FDA seems to disregard that the levels are dangerous. Comprehensive studies have already shown the link between developmental and reproductive issues in both female and male rats. DNA damage and alterations in how genes function have also been found in many peer-reviewed studies. Levels deemed safe by the EPA’s standard could be reduced by at least 100 times and still be too high to be considered safe. Comprehensive Glyphosate Testing Reveals Shocking Results Samples were taken from hundreds of foods sold by some of the most popular retailers, including Walmart, Target, Whole Foods Market, and many others. A variety of essential foods like grains, beans, and even protein shakes were tested. Thanks to the vast number and wide array of foods included, this was the most comprehensive glyphosate testing ever conducted in the U.S. What did the researchers find? Shockingly, both Walmart and Whole Foods Market sold foods that tested abnormally high, including non-GMO foods. What Can You Do To Reduce Your Exposure to Toxic Chemicals in Your Food? Be as vigilant as possible when it comes to reading labels. It’s also a good idea to go with brand names that you know and trust when it comes to buying organic or at least weedkiller-free foods. Avoid shopping at grocery stores that are known to follow their own rules when it comes to foods that contain contaminants and other hazardous chemicals. Follow the research performed by groups outside of the FDA or the toxic chemical companies. You may be surprised at what you learn. Take a close look at your shopping habits. Do you find yourself buying the same foods week over week? Most of us do, which is why doing your research about the brands you buy is critical. You may be shocked to find out that some of your favorite products contain toxic chemicals that could alter your DNA and even harm your reproductive health. What you put into your body every day will have a long-term effect on your health. It is undoubtedly clear that we cannot count on government authorities to protect us. Instead, protect your health by becoming informed and purchasing most of your foods from organic, non-GMO sources. And, above all, try to avoid consuming non-organic wheat, corn and soy products – which are loaded with unwanted toxins like, glyphosate.

ISRAEL21c staff via Israel21c – Partnership with Bayer calls for developing a platform for cardiotoxicity screening, using human heart tissues 3D-printed in Prof. Tal Dvir’s lab. Human heart tissues 3D-printed in Tel Aviv University Prof. Tal Dvir’s Laboratory for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine will be used to test the cardiotoxicity of experimental drugs according to a collaboration agreement between the university’s tech-transfer company, Ramot, and pharmaceutical giant Bayer. “We are excited to start this new collaboration with Tel Aviv University, which will address a new area of early assessment of safety and tolerability of drug candidates,” said Eckhard von Keutz, head of Translational Sciences at Bayer. “We already have a global network of partners and this new project will enable Bayer to expand its open innovation activities to Israel, which provides a dynamic ecosystem for innovation in biotech and medical research.” Last April, Dvir’s lab successfully produced the first-ever 3D-printed heart using tissue extracted from a patient. This innovative technology has the potential to revolutionize drug screening. Drug candidates go through several phases of screening. First, the new compound is tested on human tissue cultures in Petri dishes. Then, it is administered to lab animals. Finally, the drug is approved for human clinical trials. Dvir’s 3D-printed tissues could make the process faster, cheaper and more efficient. “In a Petri dish, all the cells line up in 2D, and it’s only one type of cell,” said Dvir. “In contrast, our engineered tissues are 3D-printed, and therefore better resemble real heart tissues. Our printed tissues contain cardiac muscle, blood vessels and the extracellular matrix which connects the different cells biochemically, mechanically and electrically. Moving away from Petri dishes to 3D printed tissues could significantly improve drug tests, saving precious time and money with the hope of producing safer and more effective medication.” Dvir hopes eventually to offer Bayer the ability to do pre-clinical trials on complete printed organs. “Our end goal is to engineer whole human hearts, including all the different chambers, valves, arteries and veins – the best analogue of this complex organ – for an even better toxicological screening process.” Ramot licensed the technology to a spin-off company, Matricelf, whose first focus is on engineering personalized spinal-cord implants to treat paralyzed patients.
