Al Sears, MD, CNS – Big Agra, mainstream medicine, and the media have all declared war on traditional protein-rich foods. I remember staying at my grandparents’ farm when I was growing up. I’d wake up to the smell of steak and eggs and race down the stairs to be the first at the table. Your grandparents most likely ate this way, too. But today, it’s a different story. Big Agra, mainstream medicine, and the media have all declared war on traditional protein-rich foods. As a result, you’ve been forced onto a radical, unhealthy, inflammatory, disease-producing diet without your consent. Then in 2016, the war on traditional foods took a drastic new turn. The vegan lifestyle was once again all the rage. Demand for plant-based meat and egg products soared with foods like the Impossible Burger, Beyond Burger, and Quorn “chicken” nuggets. These fake foods began to appear on supermarket shelves and restaurant menus everywhere. Big Agra wanted you to believe these “meat alternatives” were healthier than what nature provides. But they’re not. Clever marketing campaigns wanted you to believe that these meat mockeries taste just like the real thing. But they don’t. And the public knows it. Demand for these fake foods has plummeted. So what are the manufacturers of these knockoff products doing now? They’re adding animal fat back into them to get them to taste more like the real thing! I’ve been warning my patients to avoid meat alternatives for almost a decade. By definition, plant-based “egg and meat products” are processed, unnatural fake foods. They’re made from more than 50 ingredients that are decidedly unrelated to the animals they mimic. Most plant-based products also contain soy and seitan, which gives them their “authentic” texture. Despite the media and marketing hype around soy being a source of good health, the GMO frankenfood is one of the worst plant foods you can possibly consume. Soy is loaded with estrogen mimickers that cause erectile dysfunction, “man boobs,” loss of bone and muscle mass, and at least half a dozen different types of cancer. Soy also impairs insulin secretion and might actually cause diabetes. And new studies reveal that it may even be connected to dementia and mental illness.1,2 Meanwhile, seitan – also known as “wheat meat” – is a starchy, grain-based concoction made from gluten and is highly processed. And as you know, I’ve been recommending that you avoid grain-based foods for more than 30 years. If you followed a grain-based diet like the USDA recommends you’d be diseased, overweight, and prematurely old in no time at all. Unhealthy Ingredients Hiding in These Fake Foods These products, despite clever marketing, are anything but good for you. Soy and seitan, while horrible for your health, are at least real foods. The other ingredients hiding in your veggie burger are anything but… To get these ultra-processed meat alternatives to look and taste like real meat means they have a whole lot of chemical additives. Here’s a small example of what’s hiding in your plant “burger:” Tertiary butylhydroquinone. This synthetic preservative is linked to cancer, vision loss, liver enlargement, and convulsions in lab animals. Research suggests that in humans it damages the immune system, leaving you vulnerable to disease.3 Propylene glycol. This water-absorbing synthetic substance is often used in the cosmetic industry. But it’s also an ingredient in e-cigarettes and antifreeze. Magnesium carbonate. Used as a food additive to prevent caking and retain color, magnesium carbonate is also used in flooring, fireproofing, and fire-extinguishing compounds. Too much causes a laxative effect. Makers of meat alternatives point to studies that declare these compounds are safe. But here’s what they fail to mention… Independent research has discovered the “studies” have been funded or commissioned by the very same companies that manufacture these fake foods. Of course, you’ll never hear from the FDA or the mainstream media that meat alternatives are an unhealthy choice. They’re still pushing the big lie that cholesterol is bad for your heart and your health. As a regular reader, you know I consider the war on cholesterol one of the greatest health food cons of all time. Despite misinformation repeated endlessly by mainstream doctors, the media, and Big Agra, trying to remove animal fats and cholesterol from your diet is a bad idea. A meat-based diet is what made us the humans we are today. It’s grains, carbohydrates, and processed foods that cause excessive weight gain, inflammation, and chronic disease – not dietary fat. Bring Back Real Beef I consider grass-fed meat to be perhaps the healthiest food you can eat. Compared to grain-fed animals, products from grass-fed animals have 10 times more omega-3 fats, more vitamins B, E, D, and K2, more CoQ10 and zinc, and more antioxidants like glutathione and superoxide dismutase (SOD).4 But don’t be fooled by Big Food fakes. To make sure you’re getting the real deal, here’s what to look for: 1. Search For These Keywords When Shopping. Next time you’re shopping, keep an eye out for key terms that show your food isn’t coming from Big Agra farm. “Grass-fed and grass-finished” ensures animals ate a natural diet their whole lives and were never “fattened up” with grain. “Organic” signifies avoidance of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. “Biodynamic” farming goes even further, treating farms as closed, self-nourishing systems. 2. Order Your Food Online. For a list of farms that only raise grass-fed and finished meat, check out these two websites: American Grassfed, Eat Wild, and A Greener World. To order online, I suggest these sites: ✓ US Wellness Meats. I know the owner John Woods and I trust his products. ✓ Polyface Farms. The food from my friend Joel Salatin’s farm isn’t just healthier, it tastes a heck of a lot better. ✓ Okeechobee Farms. This farm is not too far from my clinic. They make and deliver the homemade bone broth I offer all my patients. 3. Look for third-party certification. Groups like AGA, A Greener World, or the Global Animal Partnership offer certification labels you can check to verify it is real grass-fed beef.

Lori Alton via NaturalHealth365 – Research has shown that people suffering from an autoimmune condition virtually always have low levels of GSH. More than 100 different health problems – including joint and skin pain, blood sugar imbalances, and gut disorders – have an autoimmune component that turns into the immune system attacking the body’s organs, tissues, and cells. A major cause of all this pain and suffering is the ever-increasing barrage of environmental toxins and stressors depleting our bodies’ stores of glutathione. (often referred to as GSH) Important point: Research has shown that people suffering from an autoimmune condition virtually always have low levels of GSH. Conversely, having optimal levels of this “master antioxidant” can help modulate immune system reactions and reduce the risk of problems. Step one: What is the purpose of glutathione (GSH)? Glutathione, the body’s most powerful antioxidant, is a powerful detoxifier that binds to toxins and helps eliminate them. GSH is critical for immune function and for controlling inflammation and oxidative damage. Proper GSH activity modulates cell proliferation and protects mitochondria, the cells’ “powerhouses.” It also helps to promote peak physical functioning while increasing muscle tone and stamina. Don’t forget: the body’s ability to prevent – and recover from – chronic health issues depends on its ability to produce and maintain high levels of this life-sustaining molecule. GSH is synthesized in the body from the amino acids cysteine, glycine, and glutamine. While the body produces lavish amounts in youthful years, glutathione levels tend to decline as a normal part of the aging process. Keep in mind that many factors drain GSH from the body, including pharmaceutical drugs, environmental pollutants, hormonal imbalances, lack of sleep, obesity, a sedentary lifestyle, poor diet, and alcohol use. Reduce the risk of immune system “flare-ups” Glutathione exists in the body in two forms: reduced GSH and oxidized GSH. Reduced glutathione is the form that actively combats free radicals. However, in the process, it gains an extra unpaired electron and becomes unstable, turning into oxidized glutathione. An enzyme known as glutathione reductase triggers the conversion back to its usable form. Many natural health experts maintain that oxidized glutathione must be recycled back into reduced glutathione to manage autoimmune disorders. In fact, studies have shown that promoting glutathione recycling helps regulate the immune system, reduce the autoimmune response, promote tissue recovery, and even heal “leaky gut.” In order to boost healthy glutathione recycling, the first order of business is to reduce the stressors that threaten glutathione levels. Some steps you may need to take include balancing blood sugar levels, addressing food intolerances, reducing your exposure to environmental toxins and pesticides, managing adrenal function, re-balancing the gut microbiome, and adopting an organic diet. Of course, it’s wise to consult with a holistic physician or health coach to help you decide. Selected supplements and natural compounds can enhance the body’s ability to recycle glutathione You can support glutathione recycling with N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC), a biologically available form of cysteine that is rapidly turned into intracellular glutathione. Cell studies have shown that pretreatment with NAC raises glutathione levels in older cells while helping to reduce cell death. Alpha-lipoic acid helps to reverse depletion of glutathione that can occur as a result of stress, while the amino acid glutamine – a precursor to glutathione – can boost levels as well. Cordyceps, a medicinal fungus commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine, has been shown to protect cells by engaging the GSH enzyme cycle. In addition, studies have shown that an herb known as gotu kola (or Centella asiatica) can increase levels of GSH peroxidase. Finally, milk thistle extract can increase GSH recycling and help improve the ratios of reduced to oxidized GSH. Promote glutathione recycling with natural nutrients Eating moderate amounts of organic Brazil nuts, sardines, cage-free eggs, grass-fed beef, and spinach can raise levels of selenium, an antioxidant trace mineral essential for GSH recycling. Natural health experts also recommend organic, undenatured bio-active whey protein – a great source of cysteine – to enhance GSH production and recycling. Eating plentiful amounts of sulfur-containing foods, such as organic broccoli, garlic, onions, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, and kale, can decrease oxidative stress and boost glutathione levels. Foods rich in B-complex vitamins, such as 100% grass-fed beef liver, organic pinto beans, lentils, and garbanzo beans, can aid the methylation process, which is essential to the production and recycling of GSH. Naturally, foods rich in vitamin C – like organic oranges, bell peppers, and strawberries – help convert oxidized GSH to its active form. And vitamin E – found in organic sunflower seeds and spinach – preserves enzymes that protect glutathione. In addition to helping to alleviate autoimmune conditions, GSH can be instrumental in helping to prevent blood sugar issues and neurodegenerative problems. It is difficult to think of a substance that is more vital to human health. Glutathione is simply too important to take for granted, and preserving and protecting it can pay off in major health ways.

Lori Alton via NaturalHealth365 – With its spiky purple flowers and dull green leaves, milk thistle may appear to be nothing more than an ordinary weed growing wild in vacant lots and fields. Yet, this unimpressive-looking plant is truly a shining star when it comes to avoiding disease and promoting healing. Milk thistle, scientifically known as Silybum marianum, is prized by natural healers for its ability to eliminate liver ailments, including nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, which is currently reaching epidemic proportions in the United States. But supporting liver health is not milk thistle’s only gift. Discover how this extraordinary herb can help you. Milk thistle protects against toxic effects from cancer treatment, arrests tumors The active ingredient in milk thistle, an antioxidant flavonoid called silymarin, reduces the inflammation and oxidative damage that can trigger cancer. It also helps preserve glutathione, the body’s premier inflammation-fighting antioxidant. Scientists have known for some time that milk thistle may act against cancer. In a review conducted at the University of Minnesota, researchers cited “strong evidence” for silymarin’s liver-protective and anti-cancer effects. Significantly, they credited silymarin with combating cancer by inhibiting the binding of toxins to cell membrane receptors. In a new study published in The International Journal of Oncology, researchers found that silibinin, a form of silymarin, suppressed chemoresistance, the condition in which cancer fails to respond to the effects of drugs. The team noted that silibinin also prevented further malignancy, protected against potentially cancer-causing DNA mutations, and inhibited tumor growth. In other research, researchers found that silymarin also helps prevent liver damage from chemotherapy and protects the skin and mucosal lining from damage from radiation therapy. Milk thistle is a potent antifungal agent Overgrowth of Candida albicans, a common fungus, can cause symptoms of fatigue, “brain fog,” digestive problems, and skin rashes. And, a growing problem of drug resistance in pharmaceutical antifungals – which parallels the current epidemic of antibiotic resistance – can make Candida difficult to treat. Researchers have found that silymarin can penetrate the cell membrane of the Candida microbe, stopping the pathogen’s growth and spread and helping to clear the overgrowth. Silymarin is also effective in blocking and inhibiting biofilms, layered communities of pathogenic microorganisms that are stubbornly resistant to treatment. Silymarin helps to regulate glucose levels For the past thousand years, herbalists and Ayurvedic healers have advised milk thistle to support healthy blood sugar levels, and modern research confirms the value of this ancient remedy. In one recent study, a 90-day course of a combination of milk thistle, boswellia, and nettles slashed hemoglobin A1c levels – a measure of blood sugar over several months – by a substantial 19 percent. The herbal combination also drastically reduced blood sugar levels – from an average of 150 to 180 mg/dL to an average of 124 mg/dL – and triglyceride levels. In addition, a recently published cell study shows that silymarin protects the retina from diabetic damage, a common consequence of the disease. The Big NEWS: Milk thistle supports a healthy liver Milk thistle’s main claim to fame is its ability to improve liver enzymes, rebuild liver cells, and alleviate liver ailments. In addition to easing hepatitis and cirrhosis, milk thistle shows promise in dealing with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and halting the progression to steatohepatitis, a more serious form of the condition. Research has supported milk thistle’s beneficial effects on liver disease, with one study showing that hepatitis patients treated with silymarin returned to work sooner and experienced less depression and anxiety than those in the control group. In addition, milk thistle helps detoxify the liver and protect against injury from heavy metals and drugs. In a review published in Phytotherapy Research, the team credited silymarin with reducing liver injury caused by a variety of toxins, drugs, and heavy metals, including acetaminophen, carbon tetrachloride, radiation, alcohol, iron overload, and Amanita phalloides, a type of poisonous mushroom. As an added bonus: milk thistle’s protective effects also extend to the stomach. The herb has been shown to suppress gastric inflammation and protect against ulcers caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Surprising fact: Milk thistle has antidepressant properties Yet another surprising benefit of milk thistle is its ability to function as a natural mood elevator. Animal studies support its ability to reduce anxiety and depression caused by traumatic brain injury, which it appears to do by reducing the activity of microglial cells caused by a disturbance in the neural circuits between the limbic system and the cortex of the brain. In one study, silymarin performed as well as the pharmaceutical drugs fluoxetine (Prozac) and diazepam (Valium) in supporting mood. Researchers noted that silymarin reversed stress-induced changes to the hippocampus and cerebral cortex while boosting levels of the neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine. Because of silymarin’s ability to reduce inflammation and neurodegeneration, researchers are even exploring its potential to prevent and treat Alzheimer’s disease. How should I take milk thistle? Experts recommend temporary short-term amounts of 150 mg, taken one to three times a day, for detoxification. A holistic healthcare provider may recommend 50 to 150 mg a day for liver support, maintenance, and longer-term use. Use a formulation standardized to 70 to 80 percent silymarin for best results. As always, consult your holistic doctor to determine if milk thistle is right for you and to determine the proper amount. Although it is generally considered safe and well tolerated, high amounts can cause mild digestive upset. Note: if you are allergic to any member of the aster family – such as daisies, ragweed, marigolds, or chrysanthemums – don’t take milk thistle. Milk thistle has long been revered for its ability to cleanse and detoxify the liver. However, recent research confirming its ability to ward off other diseases demonstrates that this herb is valuable and versatile. Editor’s note: To support healthy liver function, I highly recommend LuvByNature LiverLuv – which is gluten free, non-GMO and delicious.

Dr. Don Colbert – Summer is a time for family vacations, road trips, and getting out into God’s beautiful creation. But for many families, travel also means fast food, poor sleep, stressed-out schedules, and catching unwanted bugs along the way. I want to share 7 powerful habits you can practice while traveling that not only protect your physical health but also nourish your spiritual well-being. As believers, we’re called to honor God with our bodies and our choices—and that doesn’t stop just because you’re on vacation. Let’s look at some simple yet strategic habits to help you and your family stay healthy, energized, and connected with God during your travels. 1. Pray Before You Go This might sound simple, but many families forget to spiritually prepare for travel. Just like you plan your itinerary, plan your mindset and invite God into the trip. “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:6 Pray together before leaving. Ask for protection, peace, and purpose in your time away. This centers your trip on something greater than relaxation—it aligns it with God’s purpose for your family. 2. Pack (and Snack) with Intention Most people overeat junk food when traveling because they didn’t prepare. High-sugar and processed snacks can lead to gut issues, fatigue, and poor mood—especially for kids. Pack healthy, travel-friendly options: Grass-fed beef sticks Raw nuts and seeds Low-sugar protein bars Freeze-dried fruits or veggies Divine Health’s MCT Oil Powder for energy and focus Bonus: Bring Fiber Zone to support digestion and keep everyone regular while on the road. 3. Keep a Spiritual Rhythm Don’t let vacation be a break from God. Keep your family’s spiritual rhythm, even if it’s shorter or simplified. You might: Do a quick devotional over breakfast Listen to audio Scripture or worship music while driving Share one thing you’re thankful for each day It’s not about being perfect; it’s about staying connected. 4. Stay Hydrated, Especially in the Heat Dehydration is one of the most overlooked reasons people feel tired, anxious, or irritable during travel. Carry refillable bottles and consider adding electrolytes (especially in hot or high-altitude destinations). Avoid sugary drinks that dehydrate. Filtered water + sea salt + lemon = a simple homemade electrolyte boost. 5. Support Your Immune System Planes, gas stations, restaurants, and hotels expose your family to more pathogens. While you can’t avoid germs, you can support your immune defenses. Travel with: Zinc Vitamin D3 (especially if you’re not getting daily sun) A glutathione booster like NAC or liposomal glutathione to support cellular detox and antioxidant defenses Zone Biotics Probiotic for gut health A greens powder rich in antioxidants, like Green Supremefood, to help bridge the nutritional gaps on the road These simple additions can help your body stay resilient under the stress of travel. 6. Move Often & Rest Well Sitting in a car or plane for hours isn’t great for your circulation or digestion. Build in stretch breaks, walking time, and playful movement wherever you can. At night, create a simple routine to wind down: turn off screens, dim the lights, stretch, and pray together. Sleep is when your body detoxes, recovers, and resets. 7. Choose Purpose Over Perfection Some days won’t go according to plan. You’ll forget something. A child will get cranky. That’s okay. The goal isn’t perfection—it’s purpose. Let your health and faith choices reflect that. “Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” — 1 Corinthians 10:31 By anchoring your travel in healthy habits and God-honoring priorities, you help your family stay grounded and joyful. 🧳 Dr. Colbert’s Travel Essentials These are the must-haves I pack every time I travel: Fiber Zone Zone Biotics Probiotic MCT Oil Powder Nano-Glutathione or NAC Vitamin D3 Green Supremefood Quality supplements pouch + filtered water bottle You don’t have to bring your whole pantry—just the right tools to keep your energy, digestion, and immune system strong. Final Thoughts Family travel can be a blessing or a burden depending on how you approach it. By combining practical health strategies with a spiritual mindset, you can transform even a short trip into something meaningful and restorative. Your family will come back not just with memories, but with better health and a deeper sense of connection—to each other, and to God. To your health, Dr. Don Colbert, MD To read the original article click here.

Dr. Don Colbert – Millions of people in the U.S. unknowingly suffer from parasites, yet they are often overlooked by conventional medicine. Fatigue, brain fog, bloating, and even mood swings may not be random – they may be signs that something far more insidious is draining your energy from within. 🧬 The Magnitude of the Problem According to the CDC, over 60 million Americans are chronically infected with Toxoplasma gondii, a common parasite found in undercooked meat and contaminated water. And that’s just one type. Intestinal parasites like Giardia lamblia, pinworms, hookworms, and tapeworms are also widespread—and often undiagnosed. A 2014 study in the American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene revealed that many parasitic infections in the U.S. go undetected due to limited screening practices. ⚠️ Overlooked Symptoms of Parasitic Infection Could parasites be causing your symptoms? Chronic fatigue or low energy Gas, bloating, constipation, or diarrhea Unexplained skin rashes or acne Nighttime teeth grinding or insomnia Brain fog or poor focus Mood changes, anxiety, or irritability Weight fluctuations These symptoms are often misdiagnosed as IBS, anxiety, or food sensitivities—when parasites may be the real root cause. 🧠 The Gut-Brain-Parasite Axis Emerging research shows parasites don’t just affect digestion—they can influence brain function. A 2015 study published in Proceedings of the Royal Society B found that chronic Toxoplasma infection may alter neurotransmitters and affect behavior. Parasites can also: Increase inflammation in the gut Disrupt the microbiome Deplete essential nutrients All of which contribute to fatigue, anxiety, and mental fog. 🛡️ Top 10 Doctor-Recommended Ways to Prevent and Eliminate Parasites Naturally Rather than relying solely on pharmaceuticals, many integrative practitioners—like Dr. Don Colbert—recommend a more natural, gentle parasite cleanse that supports the body’s detox systems while addressing both exposure risks and internal imbalances. Here’s how to protect yourself and actively cleanse your system: 1. 🧼 Wash Hands Before Meals and After Handling Pets Parasite eggs can transfer from contaminated surfaces, pet fur, soil, or litter boxes to your mouth—especially if you don’t wash your hands consistently. This is one of the most overlooked yet common pathways for parasite transmission. 👉 Wash your hands thoroughly with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds, especially: Before eating or preparing food After using the bathroom After touching pets, soil, or raw meat 2. 🔥 Cook Meat Thoroughly and Avoid Raw Pork or Wild Game Undercooked or raw meats—particularly pork, venison, and wild-caught game—can harbor harmful parasites like Trichinella, Taenia (tapeworms), and Toxoplasma gondii. ✅ Internal temperature guide: Pork: 145°F + 3-minute rest Ground meat: 160°F Wild game: 165°F Avoiding raw meat dishes or undercooked sushi made with pork or game is especially important if you’re immunocompromised or actively detoxing. 3. 💧 Filter Your Drinking Water—Especially Well Water Parasites like Giardia and Cryptosporidium are resistant to chlorine and can be found in untreated well water, mountain streams, and even some public systems. 👉 To reduce your risk: Use a high-quality water filter that removes parasites, bacteria, and protozoa Boil water when camping, traveling, or after natural disasters Consider regular testing if you use private well water 4. 🥬 Wash Produce with a Veggie Rinse or Diluted Vinegar Fruits, herbs, and leafy greens can carry parasite eggs from contaminated soil, water, or fertilizer—especially if eaten raw. ✅ Best practices: Use a veggie-safe wash or soak produce in a mix of 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water Scrub root vegetables like carrots or beets Rinse all produce thoroughly, even organic items 5. 🌍 Travel with Natural Antimicrobials (Like Garlic or Oregano Oil) Traveling to tropical or developing countries? New environments often expose you to unfamiliar pathogens in food, water, or even insect bites. 🧳 To protect your gut while traveling: Bring natural antimicrobials like oregano oil capsules, garlic supplements, or clove oil Consider a daily probiotic to support your gut lining Drink only filtered or bottled water, and avoid raw produce in high-risk areas 🌿 Natural Remedies to Cleanse the Body of Parasites Rather than relying solely on pharmaceuticals, Dr. Colbert recommends a natural, gentle cleanse that supports your entire detox system: 6. 🌿 Wormwood This bitter herb has been used for centuries to expel intestinal parasites and worms. It contains compounds like thujone, which have been studied for their anti-parasitic effects against Plasmodium and helminths. 7. 🧄 Garlic Garlic is rich in allicin, a sulfur compound that exhibits broad-spectrum antimicrobial, antifungal, and antiparasitic activity. 👉 It may help: Reduce active parasite load Inhibit reproduction of parasite eggs Support immune defense during cleansing 8. 🍃 Oregano Oil Oregano oil is one of the most potent plant antimicrobials. A 2000 study published in Phytotherapy Research showed oregano oil helped eradicate parasites in humans with gastrointestinal infections. 👉 It’s also: Antibacterial and antifungal Helpful in restoring gut balance Easy to take while traveling or cleansing 9. 🌀 Fiber for Colon Cleansing During a cleanse, fiber helps sweep out dead parasites, eggs, and toxins from the digestive tract, while also supporting healthy elimination. ✅ Dr. Colbert recommends: 👉 Fiber Zone – a delicious, psyllium-based prebiotic fiber blend that nourishes the gut and promotes regular detox support. 10. 🧬 Milk Thistle for Liver Detox As parasites die, they release toxic byproducts that your liver must process and eliminate. That’s why liver support is critical during any parasite cleanse. One of the most powerful and well-studied herbs for liver health is milk thistle. Rich in the compound silymarin, it has been shown to: Support liver cell regeneration Protect the liver from oxidative stress Enhance detoxification enzymes Help stabilize liver enzymes during toxic load [7] 🔁 For comprehensive liver support, consider combining milk thistle with other botanicals like Divine Health Nano-Glutathione Spray, NAC, alpha lipoic acid, or beet extract—found in Dr. Colbert’s Liver Gallbladder Cleanse. 💊 What Makes Dr. Colbert’s Liver Gallbladder Cleanse Unique? Divine Health’s Liver Gallbladder Cleanse is formulated with a synergistic blend of detox-supporting ingredients that go beyond milk thistle alone: Ingredient / Purpose Milk Thistle Extract (250 mg) / Regenerates and protects liver cells N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC) (1000 mg) / Boosts glutathione, the body’s master antioxidant Alpha Lipoic Acid (600 mg) / Recycles antioxidants and supports liver detox Organic Beet Root (600 mg) / Stimulates bile flow to aid gallbladder function Artichoke Extract (125 mg) / Promotes bile production and fat digestion Selenium (100 mcg) / Supports thyroid and liver enzyme activity This combination is ideal for: Supporting phase I and II liver detox pathways Enhancing glutathione levels during a cleanse Assisting with fat metabolism and gallbladder function Managing oxidative stress during pathogen die-off ✅ This formula is especially beneficial during a parasite cleanse when your detox pathways are under extra demand. 👉 You can find all of these ingredients in Dr. Colbert’s Liver Gallbladder Cleanse — a core component of a complete cleansing protocol. 🛡️ The Gentle Cleanse Protocol A typical integrative parasite cleanse may include: Herbs: Wormwood, garlic, oregano oil, black walnut, and clove Fiber: Daily intake of psyllium or plant-based fiber like Fiber Zone Liver support: Milk thistle, dandelion, leafy greens Immune boosters: Zinc, vitamin C, probiotics 🙏 Final Thoughts If you’re dealing with ongoing symptoms—despite clean labs and diets—don’t rule out parasites. Many people find that once they address this root cause, their energy, clarity, and digestion improve dramatically. “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” – 3 John 1:2 📚 References CDC on Toxoplasmosis Ajjampur SS et al.

Dr. Don Colbert – Understanding the Different Types of Influenza. There are four main types of influenza, but Influenza A and B are the most concerning for humans: ✔️ Influenza A – The most severe and capable of causing pandemics. Strains like H1N1 and H3N2 have led to major outbreaks. ✔️ Influenza B – Also responsible for seasonal flu, but does not cause pandemics. ✔️ Influenza C – Causes mild respiratory illness and is not a major health concern. ✔️ Influenza D – Primarily affects cattle and is not known to infect humans. 🔹 Dr. Colbert’s Take: The immune system is your best defense against any strain of the flu. He recommends boosting immunity naturally with a healthy diet, proper rest, hydration, and strategic supplementation. Why the Flu Changes Every Year You may have heard that the flu is “different every year.” This is because of: ✔️ Antigenic drift – Small genetic mutations in the flu virus that cause new variants to appear each year. This is why flu vaccines need to be updated annually. ✔️ Antigenic shift – A major, sudden change in the virus that can lead to a pandemic. 🔹 Dr. Colbert’s Take: Instead of relying solely on yearly flu shots, he suggests strengthening your body’s natural defenses with Vitamin D, zinc, and probiotics, which play a crucial role in immune function. What Makes Some Flu Strains Worse Than Others? Not all flu viruses are created equal. Some are far more severe due to: ✔️ Mutations – Some strains mutate in ways that make them more aggressive. ✔️ Immune response – Certain flu types trigger an intense immune reaction, leading to high fever, inflammation, and respiratory distress. ✔️ Lack of immunity – If a strain is new, most people have little to no immunity, allowing it to spread rapidly. 🔹 Dr. Colbert’s Take: A weak immune system increases the risk of complications. He recommends cutting back on sugar and processed foods, as they can suppress immune function for hours after consumption. How Contagious Is the Flu? The flu spreads easily through: ✔️ Respiratory droplets – Coughing, sneezing, and talking can spread the virus up to six feet. ✔️ Touching contaminated surfaces – The virus can survive for hours to days on objects. ✔️ Before symptoms appear – You can be contagious one day before symptoms start and up to seven days after. 🔹 Dr. Colbert’s Take: Avoid crowded places during flu season, and wash your hands frequently. He also recommends using natural antimicrobials like oregano oil and elderberry to help fight off viral invaders. How Long Does the Flu Virus Last on Surfaces? The flu virus can survive for different lengths of time depending on the surface: ✔️ Hard surfaces (doorknobs, light switches, countertops) – Up to 24–48 hours ✔️ Soft surfaces (clothing, fabric, tissues) – A few hours ✔️ Hands and skin – Minutes to hours 🔹 Dr. Colbert’s Take: Regularly disinfect surfaces in your home using natural antiviral agents like vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, and essential oils such as tea tree and eucalyptus. How Do Most People Catch the Flu? The most common ways people get the flu include: ✔️ Direct contact with infected individuals – Being around someone who is sneezing or coughing. ✔️ Touching contaminated objects – Flu germs can linger on surfaces like shopping carts, door handles, and cell phones. ✔️ Poor hand hygiene – Touching your face (eyes, nose, mouth) after contact with contaminated objects. 🔹 Dr. Colbert’s Take: One of the simplest yet most effective flu prevention strategies is washing your hands often and keeping your immune system strong with nutrient-dense foods. What to Do When a Family Member Gets the Flu If someone in your home gets sick, take these steps to protect the rest of the family: ✔️ Isolate the sick person – Have them stay in a separate room if possible. ✔️ Use separate utensils and towels – Prevent cross-contamination. ✔️ Disinfect frequently touched areas – Doorknobs, remote controls, and countertops. ✔️ Encourage hydration and rest – Proper fluids and sleep help the body recover faster. ✔️ Wear a mask – If caring for a sick family member, a mask can help reduce exposure. 🔹 Dr. Colbert’s Take: Supporting the body’s natural recovery process is crucial. He recommends bone broth, herbal teas, and immune-boosting supplements like quercetin and vitamin C to speed up recovery. Conventional Approaches: Flu Shots and Antivirals While many doctors recommend annual flu shots, Dr. Colbert believes they are not a one-size-fits-all solution. If you choose the flu shot, ensure it is thimerosal-free to avoid mercury-based preservatives. Tamiflu (oseltamivir) is commonly prescribed to shorten flu duration but may cause side effects such as nausea and dizziness. Dr. Colbert encourages natural antiviral and immune-boosting strategies before resorting to medication. 6 Integrative and Natural Strategies to Strengthen the Immune System 1. Essential Vitamins Vitamin D3: Supports immune function; recommended dosage: 5,000 IU daily. Vitamin C: An antioxidant that combats oxidative stress; take 1,000-2,000 mg daily. Zinc: Antiviral properties that reduce flu symptoms; recommended intake: 25-50 mg daily. 2. Herbal and Natural Remedies Echinacea: Boosts immune response. Oregano Oil: A natural antimicrobial. Garlic: A potent antiviral that strengthens immunity. 3. Probiotics for Gut Health A strong immune system starts with gut health. Probiotics balance gut bacteria and enhance immunity. Consume fermented foods or take a high-quality probiotic supplement. Diet and Nutrition for Flu Prevention Diet plays a crucial role in immune support. Certain foods strengthen immunity, while others compromise it. 4. Foods to Avoid Refined Sugars: Weakens white blood cells, making infections more likely. Hydrogenated Fats: Increase inflammation and slow immune response. Excess Alcohol: Depletes immune-boosting nutrients like vitamin C and zinc. 5. Foods to Include Leafy Greens: Rich in vitamins and antioxidants for immune defense. Citrus Fruits: High in vitamin C, aiding in flu symptom reduction. Garlic and Onions: Contain natural antiviral and antimicrobial properties. Bone Broth: Supports gut health and provides key immune-enhancing amino acids. Green Supremefood: A nutrient-dense blend of greens, probiotics, and antioxidants for enhanced immunity. 6. Superfood Supplements for Immune Support Green Supremefood: Antioxidants, probiotics, and nutrients to fortify immunity. Immune Support Supplement: A blend of quercetin, zinc, and elderberry, vitamin c and vitamin d3. Nano-Glutathione: A powerful antioxidant for detoxification and immune resilience. Final Thoughts Instead of solely relying on flu shots and medications, strengthening your immune system naturally can make the difference in preparing your body’s natural defenses to ward off the flu. With nutrient-rich foods, strategic supplementation, and healthy lifestyle habits, you can defend and recover from the flu effectively. By taking an integrative approach, you can restore, rebuild, and renew your body’s defenses. After all, God designed our immune system with incredible capabilities—let’s support it the right way!

Lori Alton via NaturalHealth365 – According to a new review published in the Journal of Dietary Supplements, spirulina can alleviate risk factors for heart disease. Let’s take a closer look at the outsized benefits of this tiny microbe. Retirement is supposed to be a time of relaxation and reward, in which people finally have the leisure and the means to pursue their favorite activities. But for many, the luster of these “golden years” is dimmed by poor health. The sad fact is that two out of every three Americans over the age of 60 are affected by chronic conditions such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and cancer. It turns out that spirulina, a single-celled blue-green algae, may potentially help protect against these conditions. Holistic doctors and researchers increasingly report that wise lifestyle choices (such as getting proper nutrition, appropriate supplementation, sufficient exercise, and restful sleep) can play a major role in preventing these potentially life-threatening ailments. And ongoing research continues to confirm this. According to a new review published in the Journal of Dietary Supplements, spirulina can alleviate risk factors for heart disease. Let’s take a closer look at the outsized benefits of this tiny microbe. Spirulina supplementation can help prevent cardiometabolic diseases The review focused on spirulina’s effects on risk factors for cardiometabolic diseases – a group of conditions that encompasses heart failure, heart attacks, strokes, type 2 diabetes, and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Since obesity, inflammation, abnormal cholesterol profiles, and imbalanced blood sugar can all “set the stage” for cardiometabolic diseases, researchers were eager to see if spirulina supplementation could ease these risk factors. The short answer to this question is an emphatic “yes.” Extensive studies cited in the review revealed that spirulina supplementation reduced body weight and waist circumference while lowering levels of inflammatory markers, triglycerides, and harmful LDL cholesterol. In addition, spirulina caused a beneficial increase in insulin sensitivity, leading to lower levels of both fasting and after-meal blood sugar. Impressed researchers declared the supplement “effective in reducing multiple risk factors for heart disease” and praised it as a “promising dietary intervention” with “consistent” benefits. Additional research supports spirulina’s anti-obesity effects In a 2017 double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial published in BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine, obese participants who were given a gram of spirulina a day for twelve weeks significantly reduced their body mass and weight. In a separate study, two grams of spirulina powder a day for 12 weeks also reduced appetite, weight, and waist circumference. Multiple studies have also shown that spirulina suppresses pro-inflammatory cytokines and boosts important antioxidants such as glutathione and superoxide dismutase, helping ease oxidative stress and inflammation. Incidentally, spirulina can help prevent fat deposits in the liver, making it a valuable addition to your toolbox of natural nutrients to use against nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. This nutritious algae is packed with antioxidants, essential minerals, vitamins, and high-quality protein Spirulina’s “secret weapon” in supporting health appears to be a natural plant pigment known as phycocyanin. This compound – responsible for the algae’s eye-catching blue-green color – suppresses oxidative stress in fat cells, discouraging inflammation and enhancing the body’s sensitivity to insulin. Phycocyanin also increases cholesterol excretion – and gets a “helping hand” in this task from spirulina’s high levels of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). This essential fatty acid has also been shown to regulate cholesterol levels. However, phycocyanin shouldn’t get all the credit for this algae’s health benefits. Spirulina contains many heart-protective polyphenols – such as resveratrol and quercetin – also found in apples, grapes, and onions. Finally, spirulina has an outstanding nutritional pedigree. In addition to being low in fat and calories (and comprised of 70 percent high-quality protein), spirulina contributes healthy amounts of zinc – necessary for proper immune function – along with magnesium and potassium, both needed to regulate heartbeat and blood pressure. While spirulina has played an important role in human diets worldwide since antiquity, its reputation as a “superfood” received a 20th-century boost when it was recommended by NASA as a food for astronauts on prolonged space voyages. By the way, spirulina is also believed to modulate the immune system and boost athletic performance and stamina. Aficionados claim that yet another of its “superpowers” is the ability to reduce the sneezing, itching, and congestion of hay fever (allergic rhinitis). Sprinkle on the spirulina powder and optimize your health Spirulina is available as a supplement in liquid extracts, powders, capsules, and tablets. Holistic healthcare providers typically recommend amounts from one to eight grams daily, but consult your holistic physician before adding spirulina to your health routine. Always use a high-quality product from a reputable vendor to avoid contamination with heavy metals and pollutants. Spirulina powder can be sprinkled over salads, added to soups, dips, baked goods, or mixed into your favorite smoothie or protein shake. As the new review suggests, spirulina seems custom-designed to support health and well-being. While the idea of consuming powdered algae may seem initially unappealing, learning about the potential health benefits may help change your reaction from an automatic “Yuck!” to an enthusiastic “Yay!” Sources for this article include: Tandfonline.com NIH.gov Springer.com Lifenotlabs.com Tandfonline.com To read the original article click here.

Jillian Levy, CHHC via Dr. Axe – Chelation therapy is considered an alternative medicine that has the purpose of removing “heavy metals” and toxins from the body. Why would someone experience heavy metal toxicity in the first place? Although it might sound like something only tied to rare circumstances of accidental poisoning, heavy metals are more common than you think. If you have mercury fillings in your teeth (or amalgam fillings), have been vaccinated to prevent various diseases, eat farm-raised fish regularly, consume foods that are grown in foreign countries (like China) that aren’t certified organic, or are healing from radiation and chemotherapy treatments, you’re likely experiencing heavy metal toxicity right now to some degree. Chelation therapy involves a chemical solution called EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid), which is administered into the body — usually directly injected into the bloodstream — so it can bind with excess minerals. Once bound to “toxins” in the body, EDTA helps detox the body of heavy metals by removing them before imbalances and illnesses have the chance to develop. What is chelation therapy good for? First developed and used in the 1950s for the treatment of heavy metal poisoning, chelation therapy using EDTA is now performed to remove common heavy metals, including lead, mercury, copper, iron, arsenic, aluminum and calcium. While still a controversial practice in mainstream medicine and one that requires more research for us to fully understand how it works, studies show that chelation therapy has potential for reducing the risk of heightened inflammation, heart disease, infections and more. A National Health Interview Survey conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that 111,000 adults 18 years or older had used chelation therapy as a form of complementary medicine between the years 2006–2007. (1) Since the popularity of chelation therapy has grown since this time and more health care professionals are being trained in this practice, it’s safe to say that this number is steadily rising. How Chelation Therapy Works Many people who have used chelation therapy regularly feel that it helps them remain more energetic and immune to common illnesses, environmental toxins and stress. Studies show that chelation is scientifically proven to rid the body of excess or toxic metals, especially certain kinds like lead or mercury that can lead to poisoning. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the use of chelation therapy with EDTA for treating lead poisoning and continues to investigate its potential and safety as a new drug for reducing coronary heart disease symptoms. (1) What is EDTA? EDTA is a type of man-made synthetic amino acid. As an alternative, some practictioners also use another substance in EDTA’s place called DMPS (2,3-Dimercapto-1-propanesulfonic acid), which works similarly. EDTA chelation therapy works by binding salts to molecules in the blood once EDTA is administered into someone’s veins. After EDTA attaches to heavy metals, together they both move to the kidneys where their elimination from the body occurs through urine. It’s possible that “chelating agents” like EDTA and DMPS can help detoxify the body of toxic elements that contribute to many types of chronic diseases. Chelating agents have specific bonds that form between organic molecules and metals. This gives them the ability to “bind” to metals that build up in the blood, major organs and blood vessels. Some chelating agents, including peptides like glutathione and metallothionein, have been well-researched and proven to transport and excrete toxins from the body, all without the need for expensive surgeries and risky medications. One of the biggest chelation therapy benefits is its ability to help control levels of various environmental metals in the body. Metals, including lead, mercury, aluminum and arsenic, can cause short- and long-term health consequences since they impact functions of the central nervous, cardiovascular, immune and skeletal systems. When the body is out of homeostasis due to experiencing imbalances in minerals, malfunction and damage to vital organs can develop. Some of the most symptoms of heavy metal toxicity include: Chronic fatigue syndrome Trouble learning and remembering new information “Brain fog” and trouble concentrating Autoimmune diseases Neurological disorders and cognitive decline Joint or muscle pain Mood changes, including depression and anxiety 5 Benefits of Chelation Therapy 1. Might Help Improve Heart Health Although ongoing research is still underway, some alternative health care providers use chelation therapy to help treat coronary heart diseases, including atherosclerosis (thickening and hardening of the arteries that can potentially lead to a heart attack or stroke). Why do some provides use chelation therapy for heart disease? EDTA binds with calcium within the arteries, helping to reduce plaque build-up and deposits that can cut off blood flow. (2) Once bound to calcium, EDTA can help carry the molecules out of arteries so circulation improves. In a similar way, EDTA might help control high inflammation and cholesterol levels, which also pose a risk for heart disease. In the future, we might see chelation therapy used a less risky and more affordable alternative to heart surgery and complicated mediations that have many side effects. 2. Acts Like an Antioxidant EDTA might act similarly to antioxidants by reducing inflammation, fighting free radical damage and removing metals that cause the foundation of chronic disease development. It’s been suggested that EDTA binds to not only calcium within arteries, but also other metals stored within bones, muscles and bodily tissues that can lead to increased inflammation or pain. The use of certain chelating agents has been shown to successfully lower the presence of plutonium radiation toxicity within the body, which is tied to increased cancer risk. (3) Uranium and radionuclide are two types of chemicals that can cause toxicity, leukemia and osteosarcoma when someone experiences long-term radiation exposure, but chelating agents, including DTPA, are able to help remove these before serious illnesses can form. 3. Lowers Pain and Swelling Since chelation therapy targets inflammation, the root of most diseases, including arthritis and many autoimmune disorders, many people report less pain from inflamed muscles, joints and bones when using EDTA. Although this theory hasn’t yet been proven in controlled scientific studies, chelation therapy might work by helping to reduce the effects of oxygen ions (also called oxidative stress) that can damage blood vessels and tissue. When inflammation causes the walls of vessels to become clogged, circulation decreases and pain grows. Chelation therapy may offer an alternative to ongoing medication treatments for chronic pain. 4. Can Help Fight Cognitive Disorders There’s evidence that chelation therapy can successfully treat cognitive disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease. While the exact mechanisms in which EDTA helps resolve these problems isn’t yet clear or proven in studies, there seems to be a tie between heavy metal poisoning (or toxicity), including high levels of lead or mercury in the blood, and medical disorders that affect the brain, memory and learning. Research also shows that increased accumulation in the brain of copper, iron and zinc might be associated with a number of neurodegenerative diseases. Long-term heavy metal exposure can lead to physical, muscular and neurological degenerative changes in the brain that set the stage for not only Alzheimer’s disease, but also dementia, Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis. (4) 5. Helps Lower Risk for Learning Disabilities Sadly, rates of learning disabilities, ADHD symptoms and autism spectrum disorders have been on the rise in recent years, yet how exactly these conditions should be treated or prevented remains controversial in the medical community. Many practitioners are now looking to alternative treatment methods to control symptoms of cognitive disorders, including some like chelation therapy that target heavy metal poisoning. While not technically authorized to be used for treating such conditions, “off-label use” of chelation therapy might be beneficial for cognitive health due to its ability to lower circulating or stored toxic metals that interfere with brain function. (5) Going forward, we should expect to see new proven strategies using chelating agents that are capable of crossing the blood-brain barrier and bringing back homeostasis of minerals levels. Related: Aconite: Safe Homeopathic Remedy or Dangerous Poison? How Chelation Therapy Is Performed Chelation therapy sessions take several hours to complete and usually take place in a doctor’s office under special monitoring. Most patients need between five to 30 treatments for best results. Each treatment session involves insertion of an intravenous (IV) to administer liquid EDTA, usually into a vein located in the hand or arm. The procedure isn’t painful for most people, but like with all injections, it’s possible to feel some burning, redness or swelling at the injection site. There isn’t much recovery time needed after the procedure and most patients are free to drive themselves home and go about their normal day. Some people report needing to urinate more than usual following chelation therapy, which can be beneficial considering this is how heavy metals leave the body. How can you locate a health care provider with appropriate training to perform chelation therapy? Currently the American Board of Clinical Metal Toxicology (ABCMT) is responsible for training and qualifying chelation therapy practitioners. ABCMT has actually been certifying doctors in chelation therapy for over 24 years! The American College for Advancement in Medicine is another organization that offers educational training. Both hold seminars and administer examinations in order for doctors to become board-certified and approved to work with patients. Can you feel safe with a chelation therapy doctor? Most likely, yes! Chelation therapy doctors must be either D.O. or M.D. and have a license to practice in their states, complete a comprehensive course on the diagnosis and treatment of chelation therapy, obtain letters of recommendation, and conduct at least 2,000 intravenous treatments for metal toxicity as part of a preceptorship with a certified physician. You can find out more about the qualifications and seek out a trained practitioner on the American Board of Clinical Medicine Toxicology website. Is chelation therapy covered by insurance? One thing to consider is that currently most insurance companies do not cover chelation therapy. As governing health authorities continue to undergo investigations into its safety and efficacy, it’s only practiced by limited alternative practitioners, which means your regular doctor might not yet offer chelation therapy or be convinced of its benefits. How much does it cost for chelation therapy? Depending on how many treatments your practitioner recommends, chelation therapy cost for an entire course of treatment will vary by patient. Treatments typically cost between $75 and $125. Side Effects of Chelation Therapy You should only receive Chelation therapy with EDTA from a properly licensed professional due to the potential for side effects to develop in some cases. What are the side effects of chelation therapy? The most common side effect is a burning sensation at the site where EDTA is enters the vein, but this usually goes away quickly and is mild. Rare chelation therapy side effects can include headache, fever, nausea, and vomiting. (6) It’s very important for EDTA to be infused properly and slowly, since high levels can cause electrolyte imbalances. It’s also possible that while it removes harmful heavy metals, EDTA can potentially also bind to needed vitamins and minerals and remove them from the body, which poses the risk for deficiencies. To make up for this, many practitioners give patients large doses of vitamins/minerals following chelation therapy so they avoid becoming very deficient. Although it’s very rare, kidney damage and heart failure can also occur due to blood pressure levels dropping suddenly and abnormally low calcium levels in the blood (hypocalcemia). At this time, children, pregnant women, and anyone who has a history of heart disease or kidney problems should not use chelation therapy without consulting with a doctor first. (Plus How to Do It) Other Ways to Lower Heavy Metal Toxicity If you’re experiencing symptoms of heavy metal toxicity, chelation therapy along with a reduction in common toxins may be able to help you.

Al Sears, MD, CNS – New research has revealed that the secret to defeating Alzheimer’s doesn’t come from Big Pharma’s drugs. Instead, it resides deep inside your own body. This will come as a shock to Big Pharma. After all, they’ve been lining their pockets for years pushing drugs that don’t work.1 In fact, tens of billions of dollars, including more than $3.7 billion last year alone, have been poured into Alzheimer’s research over the past decade – and it has all been pointless. Government agencies, tax-payer cash, and countless well-meaning charities have helped fund everything from unfounded genetic theories to all sorts of trial drugs, vaccines, cholinesterase inhibitors, and monoclonal antibodies. None of them have brought us one step closer to finding a cure or stopping the unprecedented global explosion of this epidemic. But now, a team of Israeli scientists have made an astonishing breakthrough discovery. Team of Israeli scientists have made an astonishing breakthrough discovery Researchers at Ben-Gurion University have confirmed that the root of Alzheimer’s lies in your mitochondria, the tiny energy powerhouses found in each one of your cells.2 Piggybacking on the growing body of evidence that has linked mitochondrial dysfunction to Alzheimer’s, the Israeli researchers used mouse models to target a mitochondrial gatekeeper – a protein called VDAC1 – which controls how these little power packs function, as well as the life and death of the cell itself. The scientists found that lab mice that produced excess VDAC1 in their brain cells suffered mitochondrial and cell death, triggering an autoimmune response leading to neuroinflammation. This, in turn, led to the release of neurotoxins that resulted in the amyloid plagues and nerve tangles characteristic of Alzheimer’s disease. But by targeting VDAC1 with a special molecule that binds to the protein, the researchers prevented the changes that led to mitochondrial dysfunction and Alzheimer’s. This is great news because it means you now have the knowledge and ability to prevent this dreadful disease from ever striking. And it helps explain my many successes in treating Alzheimer’s patients at the Sears Institute for Anti-Aging Medicine. I’ve been recommending natural therapies that target the mitochondria for years. Meanwhile, Big Pharma has been caught flat-footed. Despite the recommendations of the Israeli scientists, there are no current Alzheimer’s drug candidates that target mitochondria. But the good news is you don’t need Big Pharma or their expensive drugs to beat Alzheimer’s. Tap Into The Alzheimer’s Treatment Hiding Inside You Here are three powerful nutrients I recommend to my patients for keeping their mitochondria firing on all cylinders. The sooner you start taking them, the better. Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALC): This amino acid plays a crucial role in making energy in your cells. It transports fatty acids into your mitochondria, where they are burned for fuel. It also carries toxic waste out before it can do any damage. But, as you age, your carnitine levels drop. That’s why you need ALC. Your body converts L-carnitine to ALC. Studies show that when your mitochondria slow down, ALC can fire them up again. Studies also show that ALC reverses the malfunction in mitochondria as you age.3,4 The best source of L-carnitine is grass-fed red meat. But you can also supplement. I suggest taking at least 500 mg of ALC every day on an empty stomach. Look for a formula with only L-carnitine and not D, L-carnitine. D-carnitine is synthetic. N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC): This is another amino acid that’s also a powerful antioxidant. NAC helps make glutathione, the body’s most powerful antioxidant. Glutathione is the main line of defense for mitochondria. It helps prevent and repair oxidative damage, thus protecting your mitochondria.5,6 Studies show that it also protects your telomeres from oxidative damage.7 So it throws a one-two anti-aging punch. I advise supplementing with 500 mg per day. Rhodiola Rosea: This tough little yellow flower is native to the arctic mountains of Eastern Siberia, and it’s a great herb for enhancing mitochondrial energy production. I’ve seen the power it has to energize my patients. In just a few months, they are visibly younger and stronger. And they tell me they feel that way, too. You can find rhodiola tea in health food stores. Or you can take it in capsule form. It’s also called golden root or roseroot. But make sure you get a formula with enough of the herb’s active compounds. Look for an extract standardized to contain at least 3% rosavins and 1% salidroside. That’s the same ratio found in the natural root. I recommend taking 250 mg daily on an empty stomach, preferably in the morning, because rhodiola stimulates your brain.
